Pretty positive only NMC forces you to protect a player.
I may stand corrected then. Either way I don't think they are giving him away for free. Have you seen the rest of the D? They got 3 guys and the rest could have played on our squad last year.

Don’t know how everyone else feels on this, but I can’t see Dallas back in finals for a while. They relied way too much on their old ass players and Khudobin, who’s like 40. Defense is great, but they need some young guys on offense and Seguin to be a lot better. Maybe another shot next year, kind of reminds me of the Rangers in 14. That was our shot and the year after.

That first picture of McDonagh is incredible - probably new avi material for a bit until we get Lafreniere.

I'm so f***ing happy for McDonagh. The guy is an absolute animal on the ice, and he was so fun to watch growing into his own as a Ranger. I'm so happy for Shatty too proving everyone who doubted him wrong. The dude blew his knee out here and everyone was jumping down his throat for not playing up to his expectations.

Draft is Oct 6-7? Seems next season won't start till at least Dec 1st and that is a long shot according to Bettman, kinda bummed to be honest.

Get the sense based on anonymous statements that the players are largely against a bubble season. Baseball and NFL are doing travel so it's not out of the realm of possibility, but we'll see.

I'm happy for McD, but Shattenkirk is a different story.

The dude showed up out of shape in his first season and proceeded to get hurt on top of it.

His second season, while recovering, wasn't much better and people got really annoyed by the stupid decisions that weren't balanced out by 10 goals and 40 points.

He finally got himself into top shape (which is what he should've arrived with here), and was able to blend in with a support role, where his mistakes could be covered more easily (as we saw in the finals), and where he could sign for a fraction of his going rate because we could pay the difference.

His doughie ass needed to show up here with a "chip on his shoulder" and in the shape he's in now.

He didn't f***ing prove anyone wrong, he robbed a bank and moved to Florida.

I think the season most likely starts Jan 1st at the earliest - the players will want to enjoy the holidays with their families after being separated for the summer.

Yes, draft is then.

Starting date to the season most certainly does suck, but it is what it is. I'd hope Dec 1st happens. Autumn without hockey?! What is this?

Anywho, we have the draft coming up, FA and ideally one month of camps prior to the season. This should not take more than two months, PLS.

Damn, that username checks out!

uh... what? Their second overall draft pick literally won the Conn Smythe.

Yeah, meant at forward... ;)

Wouldn't mind if the regular season goes into May, want a full 82 game season. It's more about getting fans into the arena again, which is why they are pushing it back. The draft , FA, and camp can all be done by Nov. Hate bubble hockey, so prefer to just wait at this point, which sucks.

So training camp starts Jan 1st? Season Feb 1? Because you need training camp and preseason still.

Dominos. If Shattenkirk turned up in shape in his first season with the Rangers there could be no "rebuild" letter sent out in February...

P.S. You made me think that has he been signed without a discount to his market value / term - he'd probably not allow himself to come in out of shape as he did.

Perhaps. Or maybe we're still in the dreaded middle and he gets traded instead of bought-out and we're not carring his salary.

Yeah, and what is the need for it? The soccer leagues are playing like normal in Europe. Nobody here are even remotely questioning that. They are discussing if 500 or 5,000 or 25,000 should be let into the arenas. The NHL can't play at all and once they play they have to create some bubble?

More like John Goober
He’s such an unbelievably nice guy when I met him. Honestly him and Lou were the 2 shockers...I expected them both to be jerks. Lou sat and talked to a rangers fan with a young kid for a good 10 mins while signing everything he gave him. Cooper spent about as much time as jd did with the fans of all the teams.

cooper is the 1 guy I’m very happy for.

I heard the league is considering a hybrid season where teams spend a few weeks in one of 6 bubble cities then spend a week at home, then back to the bubble and it repeats.

Well the Italian league is facing its first crisis, half the Genoa team tested positive. NFL also, with the Titans and Vikings. Baseball managed to make it through the summer but there were bumps in the road for sure.
