nhl totally missed a great moment by not pumping in fans booing bettman as a joke...he's shown a good sense of humor about it...lol

It really was a great chance for him to win over a bunch of the fanbase.

Not that I think the booing is really malicious anymore, but if he had owned it tonight, he would have come out looking like a boss.

Can you guys imagine if we had even ONE of Hedman, Point, Kucherov or Stamkos during our cup run? McDonagh probably wouldn't been lifting his second cup

We could have had Corey Perry, or Patrice Bergeron, or Mike Richards, or Ryan Getzlaf.

Busting on the 2003 draft came back to haunt us a decade later.

Hedman is a heck of a player. Quintessential hockey player. 6’6 defenseman who is a great skater, physical specifimen, has a career high of 72 points in 79 games, had 55 in 66 games this year. Still UNDER 30, Conn Smyth winner with 10 goals and 21 points in 24 playoff games while providing 1A shutdown defense. Beast.

Hedman is well on his way to the HOF and his number being retired in Tampa. This season probably solidifies it and he’s got another 5 years or so to add to his resume.

McDonagh was my favorite Rangers player of the decade. Thrilled for him.

A lot went wrong for him at the end of his time here as a Ranger. Getting the C that he wasnt ready for, nearly killing Zucc, those two bad shoulder injuries he suffered within a year of each other, and the AV-itis that had the entire roster regress other than Miller and Hayes.

A shame because he was surefire perennial Norris contender in 2012-14. He was pretty much what Seth Jones is right now.

McD is in a dream spot with Tampa. Part of the leadership core with Stamkos and Hedman. Doesn’t have to be the best defenseman on the team, let alone best player. Looking at his contract status, he might consider himself a Lightning first and foremost by the end of his career.

McDonagh and Shattenkirk should petition the NHL to have Rangers GM Jeff Gorton name on the cup :sarcasm: they should give Jeff something nice for the holidays

The big break at the end of the season helped as well. Prior to that he was banged up and in really bad shape heading into the playoffs again.

I will say this much for Tampa- over the last 5-7 years, and maybe even the last 16 or so years, they’ve shown what happens when you can find good talent throughout the draft, have the added boost of getting those elite talents at the top of the draft, and don’t get so attached to players that you’re afraid to move them for assets to replenish and regroup.
