Big decisions. Problem is Lundkvist hasn’t done it and is a prospect. Yes, you mentioned two years for ADA.

Offense wins games and defense wins championships.

Lundkvist has always been a really good prospect, but it’s the strides he’s made in the last 12 months that have really made the concept of using ADA to shore up another area a distinct possibility.

At the time of the draft I said that Lundkvist had a lot of similarities to Boqvist, his game just was a couple of stations behind. With time I felt he could close that gap and hit that level of prospect.

Two years later, he’s done that and probably more.

i wanted Boqvist.

I’m a big Lundkvist fan but he’s only a prospect until he shows us in the big league. We’ve already seen a player like Kravtsov praised for “playing with men” and “the best on the ice” during prospect camp. He wasn’t close to ready and is still a prospect.

Agreed.

The challenge for the Rangers is going to be managing all of the higher tier and elite talent that is starting to come on board and will likely continue. Figuring out which talent to keep, which talent to roll the dice on, and which talent's financial commitment is better served building out a more balanced roster will present some challenges.

One of the nice things about Lundkvist spending another year overseas is that it spreads out the ELCs even further.

The 2018 class will be spread out over three seperate years, and other contracts cascades across the organization. It's a subtle benefit now, but it could be very helpful in the future.

.

lol, i agree. That is a huge bonus IMO. Stay over there until we figure this out. Would have liked to see both Miller and Barron stay in school. We know Miller wanted out while Barron likely wouldn’t have a season.

And it's funny because I can't think of a single player who I really wish we kept.

Hayes could've been nice, but there's no way I wanted to give him that contract.

it’s questionable if we should have even kept Kreider.

Rangers did write the contract correctly so let’s hope his wheels haven’t fallen off by the time the Rangers need to unload him.

Someone force Gauthier to watch video of Alex Tuch this offseason.

Tuch can be such a tease if you watch him game in & game out. His ridiculous talent is so apparent, but the hockey sense is lacking & he doesn't use his size to his advantage like he should along the boards or in front. Then there's weeks of the season where he is completely MIA. If he can put it all together at some point & gain some hockey wisdom, he has the tools to score 40 goals.

I feel like Kreider could be moveable if we needed to go that direction, and/or would be a prime candidate to take on more of a third line role if the offense started to slip.

Barron was ready.

If Miller wasn't struggling with the school/hockey balance, I'd have preferred keeping him in. When it became apparent that was a big issue, I think the right call was to pull him.

Barron wanted to return. Miller didn’t even want to go lol

Yeah, he did. But I think he'll do fine. Development wise, he can make this transition.

By next season he’ll be approx 1.5 years removed from when i saw him in Stamford. He had to fill out. Tall drink of water with a long stride. Agility wise i thought he had to work on his skating but it might be hard b/c he’s so tall. He reminds me of the Yankees Alfonzo Soriano. Thin, lanky and a lot of power.

Barron is a tank. He was a man among boys in Stamford.

Skjei was a Trojan horse boys. He’s back to being, well, Brady Skjei. Figures he turned into the reincarnation of Scott Stevens for three games, but oh well, what can ya do?

I f***ing love Svech. I know we want Carolina to lose, but as a player I just can’t help but love this kid. Tons of skill with a lot of physicality and feistiness, and through the roof confidence.

Not counting tonight, he has 18 hits in the 4 playoff games.

Svech is just too freaking good for his age. Like, he is still half a decade away from his prime. I can already tell we are gonna get real sick of seeing him in the seasons to come.
