2017 and 2018 drafts representing in this third period. I’m by no means counting out Vitali Kravtsov, but man alive would Joel Farabee be a perfect third liner for this team right now.

The thing about Farabee is that he is perfect for us now, but in 2018 we desperately needed elite skill and high upside.

Suzuki tho... what a failure by the scouts.

Farabee probably contributes enough where we don't finish where we do.
It’s debatable.
With the guys we have now there is no excuse next year for guys like Chytil and Kravtsov to improve. They won’t have pressure to be too 6 guys. Just wanna see progression

Good I wanna see more of this series. weber doing business in the final minute.

If we have either, we don't have the 1OA.
I mean, maybe, maybe not. I was fine with the Kravtsov pick, even though he wasn’t my first choice. Not like a McIlrath situation. But yeah, when you can look at the team right now and identify a couple of significant moves that, of course in hindsight, would have made us way more formidable, you wonder if it’s all going to come together anyway.

Bottom line for me, I love Joel Farabee. Sucks that he’s a Flyer.

For the most part this series the three “stars” of the flyers have been invisible (except this game for Voracek).

Suzuki was my guy in that draft...

But to be fair, 90% of this place was freaking out over passing on Weak Lats Mittlestadt,

And most of the remaining 10% were focused on Vilardi, or Tippet, or Necas, or Brannstrom.

We’re going to drive ourselves nuts if insist on doing this.

#theaveffect.

Flyers should be worried. They should have honestly lost the last 2 games and this game ended up taking on a style that suits them and they lost.

I hope both them and the Isles choke away their series.

I am a proud member of the 1%

But for real, if we have Suzuki or Farabee, we're not picking 1OA. Sucks that Lias turned out to be an ass, but Laf will more than make up for it.

imo, both the Kakko and Laf lotteries were luck. Doubt the 19 team makes the playoffs and don’t see the 20 team beating any of these teams in the best of 5 with Suzuki. Odds would likely be the same.

Suzuki pushes this team up during the regular season though.

He wouldn't have made an impact on the 2019 team so yeah, that likely plays out the same, but he sure as hell would have made a difference this year.

the flyers have had a tremendous season Coach and all. They are still a work in progress tho. Their entire first line is MIA and honestly two of them are close to being on the decline.
I wouldn’t have a problem at all with Montreal winning this series.
And by the way Tyler Mott scores a beauty of a goal. Some great hockey tonight

The problem with luck is that it is completely dependent on the chance happening of simply being in the right place at the right time. Changing one element changes the whole thing - which why it’s impossible to rely upon it as a strategy.

But my point really wasn’t to debate the merits of luck, so much as to question where we draw that line. Okay, we’d like Suzuki over Andersson. But would we like Schroeder over Kreider right now? Would we like Lundestrom over Miller? Or Samuelsson over Lundkvist? Or Joseph over Chytil?

We spend so much time agonizing over hindsight on these boards, that we almost never stop to realize that our cupboard of talent under the age of 25, especially after drafting Lafreniere, is the envy of 90 percent of the league.

I mean at some point, short of absolute f***ing perfection, is it ever enough for some people? Do we always have to self flagellate on a daily basis?

I think, in the case of picks like McIlrath and Lias, is that everyone hated the picks right away and turned out to be right. Really casts some doubt on the scouting staff. The Kravtsov pick, while unexpected, wasn't met with the same response.

I just threw up at the thought of this.

Rangers management's favorite is safe but low upside picks that bust anyway.
