To determine their seeds for the rest of the conference playoffs. VGK is the 1 seed in the west in each re-seeding. They played the lowest seed in this round. They'll play the lowest seed remaining in the 2nd round. And they'll have "home-ice" in every round they make it to.

The one with two teams playing poorly going against each other? It was closer than this COL/ARI series. As much as the Rangers sucked, so did their opponent. And the Canes continued playing the same way for much of the series against the Bruins.

All of them can happen. There's no way for the winner of DAL/CGY and VAN to play each other in the 2nd round. There's no way for the NYI and MTL to play each other in the 2nd round.

I usually don't like trading down but I am not confident in the Rangers NOT going off the board with our Skjei pick.
Maybe Anaheim would trade up and include their second to move up 5-6 slots? Maybe the Sharks would with their Tampa pick???

I will say that, on tiers of hatred, Washington is still one level below the Islanders... and so I am rooting for the Caps to come back from 3-0 and put the Isles out. Screw the draft position.

It’s really actually pretty impressive what Stepan accomplished in his career. He’s got to be the worst skater I’ve ever seen.

Hasn’t improved his skating a lick since he entered the league. He also looks like he’s playing at a much higher weight than when he entered the league, so he’s slower now than Day 1. Woof.

Stephan is one of my favorite Rangers in the past decade. Such a smart two way player. If only the guy could skate better he would have been a real bigtime Center
