I usually don't like trading down but I am not confident in the Rangers NOT going off the board with our Skjei pick.
Maybe Anaheim would trade up and include their second to move up 5-6 slots? Maybe the Sharks would with their Tampa pick???

What is going off the board at 22-24? There are so many good options at that point, Were Chytil, Miller and Lundkvist so bad as ‘off-the board’ picks?

Just saying if someone like Jarvis, Gunler, Zary or Mysak was still available at 22ish and they pick a Smilanic or Cuylle who would probably still be on the board in the second round.

Something to keep in mind is that this might be a draft where there really isn't an off the board option. By that I mean that just about anyone ranked from 15-55 could be on the table, depending on the team.

How do you know they don’t like Mysak or Gunler?

how are they going to safely do the combine?

I don't recall ever thinking that Miller and Lundkvist were off the board. Is that really a thing on here?

Exactly if guys like Jarvis/Mysak are gone then why not. 2 picks 20ish-50ish would be a little better than just one at 22/23. Preferably tho would like to stay close to the end of the first round/very early 2nd for one of the picks.

I definitely don't know that. Just saying they may reach for a more physical forward who could be had in the 2nd round. I wouldn't be shocked.
I know Gunler is pretty big. Does he play with a nasty streak?

Personally, I don't have a problem trading down in the right scenario --- especially if it means picking up a second.

Having said that, the Rangers haven't been inclined to do that.

In that same mindset, it would be really interesting if the Rangers take two kids from Q in the first round, after not taking one since 1977.

The only one that may qualify is Chytil, since I think he was an early 2nd in most rankings. And frankly, since Lafreniere is as guaranteed and safe a pick as you can get, the Rangers last history is to go more for boom potential, so I’m not seeing them passing up the likes of Gunler or Mysak if they’re on the board. Still hoping for Perreault, as I’m really getting intrigued by his boom potential.

Reading is for losers.

awesome second Round matchups

let’s hope the NHL doesn’t get the crazy idea of a play in Round going forward.

Gunler, IMO, has the highest boom potential.

Lafreniere and Gunler, if they both panned out, could be even better than Anaheim's first round in 2003.

That bracket isn't right either! They're reseeding this year. East is most likely going to be Philly/NYI and Tampa/Boston.
Lol I thought the Round Robin WAS the reseeding. What was the f***ing point of the RR then?

NVM I’m just so confused

I’d have no problem with them trading down. But, there are plenty of physical forwards that are going to be available in this draft in the third and fourth rounds...Cuylle, Peterson, Tuch, Bantle, Coe, Finley, Groshev should all be available from the late second round on.

chytil looks pretty good for an off the board late 1st. skjei, miller, and kreider were good picks in the late teens early 20s too.
Thats fine. Just looking for a trading partner to grab a 2nd like ottawa did with us. Maybe a little better since this is regarded as a "better" draft
