Same. That team was good and those Rangers/Isles games that year were absolutely gripping and intense.

Other than that the Islanders have been mostly irrelevant for the entirety of my life lol.

That team gassed out pretty hard towards the end of the year, mostly after we took their soul in that one 6-5 or 7-6 game.

I think 20-22
I don't think so. There's still two teams in each conference (NYI, MTL, VAN, CGY) that was below Carolina so the range will still be 5 picks. I'm just not sure if Dallas is seeded before Carolina as they were one of the teams that skipped the play-in round.

True and he deserves credit. But his style really doesn’t work today like it did say 10-15 years ago. Don’t get me wrong you can still get into the playoffs but not go too far. That gridding type of style tires out your players. We saw in with our own team in 2012

To a degree he's working with a situation where guys like Dubois, Atkinson and Bjorkstrand are his most dangerous forwards. They're good but they're not elite. Losing Panarin hurt. We've never had top end forwards until later in their careers (Messier, Gretzky, Jagr) or too late (Bure, St. Louis). Even Gaborik and Nash--their time with the Rangers good year, bad year, good year, bad year and Nash finished off with 3 years of 'I can't afford another concussion' play.

Anyway most teams that win are going to have some very good grinders. I think the thing that ate up players like Girardi and Callahan was all the shot blocking and Callahan had a reckless style of play and he wasn't exactly a big guy.

Either 20-24 or 19-23, I'm not 100% clear

It’s about to be 21-24, assuming Arizona can’t come back from 3-0 down. It currently sits at 23. The teams below them that would move down in the draft order if they make the ECF/WCF are the Islanders, Vancouver, and the winner of Dallas/Calgary.

Hopefully Boston hangs on. I don't want Carolina in the semi-finals. The sooner out the better. Keeps our draft pick in the early 20's---not the late 20's.

Penguins moved into a lottery pick losing the qualifying round, moving Carolina back a spot.

Yeah, I think there's a chance that Dallas is seeded below Carolina as well, as they had a playoff advantage by skipping the play-ins.

Montreal is still in too.

Both Dallas and Calgary are below Carolina so we should move down again

It is satisfying watching the team that eliminated us get eliminated. Especially when it improves the draft pick they traded you. Thank you Carolina, enjoy Brady Skjei.

yes, yet realistic how high a mountain the Rangers must climb despite a promising rebuild.

They’re not. It’s by points percentage.
Seems strange to me that Dallas' playoff advantage wouldn't be reflected in the draft order, like division winners are in previous years. I haven't read anything that rules that out so I'm keeping my options open!
