Isles fan, but I kind of know how you feel. My pops died right after the rangers lost to the Kings in the final. After he passed, I thought back and was sad that he didn’t get to see Rangers win one, since we didn’t exactly root for a bunch of winners (Jets/Mets). I would’ve liked to have thought he had one last great experience. Since then, I’ve also developed more of a soft-spot for the rangers, although I’m certainly not actively rooting for them.
Good luck with everything, man.
Thanks! I get it. We were a Mets/Jets family as well, with me Rangers and him Islanders. Not a lot of success! I never had an intense hatred of the Isles because they were his team--and he never hated the Rangers at all because he was originally a Rangers fan, before the Isles were around. When the teams played we'd do some verbal jousting, but otherwise it was just part of our hockey bonding--talking about both teams. We also moved to MD when I was in grade school, so I didn't exactly have a lot of people to talk Rangers with other than him.

I would be fine if the Islanders won it all. It would seem cruel, the first season after he died, but still. He'd know I was watching for him and be happy. So, good luck to you guys, from me and the old man.

Wow. When the Aves get the gates open they pour through!

Watching Kadri's game, and seeing what the Leafs are missing in their forward group, that really does seem like a weird trade

they traded away a lot of intangibles for a whole lot of skill even on the bottom 6

shots 40-13. Keumper is fantastic. I wanted to trade for him as our backup a few seasons ago... I think it might have been around Pavelec era.

Avalanche are really set up well for the future. So much talent.

this lottery win for the Rangers greatly closes the gap IMO b/c i agree, the Avs are loaded.

Wouldn’t shock me to see an Avs vs Flyers Final. Two teams who are coming of age with really good chemistry

Just a reminder, the Devils had the opportunity to draft Provorov, Werenski or Chabot in 2015 and took Pavel Zacha. And followed that up by passing up Charlie McAvoy for Mike McLeod.

and don't forget passing on petterson and makar too

Watching 2017 grad Suzuki and 2018 Farabee contribute to their respective teams makes me really think next year is a huge year for Kravtsov and Chytil. Lias is really far in the review mirror.

Also a reminder that sometimes keeping the more "skilled" option produces diminishing returns.

The minute Toronto went off the rails was the minute they tried to build an EA sports fantasy roster instead of finding balance and realizing that they need guys who can win in the playoffs, not at the all-star game skills competition.

If this draft coming is so deep than maybe at 23 we can find someone like him. Yeah sure I wouldn't hold my breath.

Perhaps. Though right now I don't see the skill/energy combination as prominently with a lot of guys in the 20s. It could get there someday, but it's not as developed now.

However, I think we'd have that base more than covered with Lafreniere.
