Meh, we already won 1st overall and whatever pick we get from Carolina was compensation for dumping Skjei. Meanwhile, I’ve always liked the Canes and getting swept by a team that goes deep feels better than getting swept by a team that turns around and gets swept. Sure, I’ll be happy with the better pick if Canes get knocked out this series, but I like the team and even though they just whooped us, it’s not exactly like it’s a rivalry. I have a hard time not liking the Canes.

I think most of us just rather getting a better pick

I think it will be in short order. We could easily be battling them for the division in the not too distant future.

Plus we were beating them a lot in the regular season. They are talented but I think we had a lot of injuries. Tony D was injured, kreider me was coming off a broken foot, Fast was injured, Lemiuex was suspended for 2 games, one of Panarin/Mika seemed injured. Next year we are going to be better and now adding Laf

Let’s not forget a 22/23/24th overall adds another 2nd rounder for us if we ever traded down a bit albeit I would rather use it on a faller from the teens.
So 23rd overall plus 2020 2nd rounder equals 28-31 overall quite easily l.
Therefore go bruins

Any Pastrnak type of forwards in the 20-30th overall selection? maybe another lesser known type like Chytil or someone like that who can be low radar but high upside?

I think Reichel could be a sneaky good pick. Let him marinate in the DEL a few more years then maybe come over if he keeps improving. Not a huge Zary fan but if he fell to 23rd or so we could take a gamble on him. I know Mysak is a wing but seems like some have forgot about him. Same thing as Reichel maybe let him marinate for a few years then have him play in Hartford a bit.
I'm sure some of the late first projections like Forrester and Smilanic could fall to the second round.

NBCSN just replayed the end of the 5 OT game.

I cannot believe the goal wasn't reviewed for offside.

Shattenkirk completely misplayed the puck off the faceoff. I couldn't be sure if the puck crossed the blue line, but it was really close.

How that wasn't reviewed is criminal.

i know it will never happen, but am I the only one that would love if the NHL would go with continuous overtime in the regular season like it is in the playoffs?

I'll take the better pick. I have no ego about losing to the Canes. Saying "at least we lost to the eventual cup winner" doesn't really help us. I mean we had to trade #26 + #48 just to move up to #22 to draft K'Andre so those 6-9 draft spots can mean quite a lot.

I’m not saying I don’t want the best pick possible and understand the value in the difference. I’m just saying that, especially since we won the lottery, all I’m worried about is enjoying playoff hockey for now, and I have a soft spot for a bunch of Canes players.
