Why would either team make that deal?

If you're asking hypothetically, yes they can. If the Avs had retained money on him, they wouldn't be allowed for a full calendar year.
Just to be clear I wasn't suggesting reversing the original trade.

Carolina would consider it if they want to recoup some of their losses in a trade.

Colorado would consider it if Rat agreed to a below market contract ahead of time.

Interesting games tonight from the playoffs chase perspective. Would be nice if Isles beat Boston, Pens beat Flyers and Sharks beat Habs. I’m torn about Jackets vs Wings. As long as it’s not a three point game I guess it’s whatever.

Does that mean he’s playing better or that the Canucks absolutely suck. Theres 2 days left in February. Is a 5 point month a big deal now?
He’s playing just as well as he was here (which was very well), but he’s getting more opportunity.

Also the Canucks suck they traded their best forward to us and their best D man has been hurt

The hockey world is seeing rantanen isn't that good. No way you pay him over 10 million. Glad to see canes do something stupid. They are usually more patient, but they also seem to try too hard to be a thorn in the Rangers side. Glad they wasted assets on Guentzel and Rantanen and hopefully lose both.

Avs fans have been complaining about him for a couple years now.

His numbers look great but he obviously benefited from riding Natedogg’s coattails, and he had like 50 empty net points this season when he was traded lol .

also he allowed himself to be crushed by Zibanejad of all people at the 4 nations, I would never show my face again if I were him

JT Miller has been better as a Ranger than a Canuck this year
Well 9 in 40 with Nuck's
5 in 8 games w/Rangers on Pace for 50 if just playing for Rangers 82 games.
Overall probably on Pace for around 22-25. Not bad considering all he's had to go through.
In his words "it doen's matter who my linemates are, I just play a simple game".
I understand what he's saying, but them's fighting words! I beg to differ, it matters.

i'm always on the edge of my seat reading your posts, man. appreciate you.
I appreciate that so much (hoping it was sincere) You do know how the sarcasm flies around here more than a bees nest. Honestly, lately I've been feeling nobody even knows I am here. True, I don't chime in on GDT too often, and it's also true that I messed around with my settings too much because I haven't been notified of one "quote" since then.
Hopefully, it's that but now God knows if I can find what to check or uncheck. So many doggone things there. Again, thanks man......I always recognize your comments as well. True Blue and honest.......love that.

I'm really glad we got JT but I always take the first 30-40 games after a trade with a grain of salt. Often guys get a trade bump in production early on. Look at that guy Vancouver traded to Calgary last season. He was amazing after the trade but crashed back to Earth this season and was traded again (to the Flyers). I don't expect a drop off like that from JT but I also don't expect JT to continue a 5 goals in 8 game pace.

Otthman really being given a serious look with Brodzinski and Rempe!!! That will surely provide him ample opportunity to prove himself and gain confidence. Way to go.
NYR fans complain about Zibs, CK, Bread, Laf, Vince, etc so who do we want Oth to play with? Its a interesting situation. Hope JT gets well soon.

Part of my issue with it is that Brodz is gonna get 8 minutes of even strength, Rempe is gonna get 7 and we know Otthman won’t get special teams. I’d rather see him with Trochek and Laf - maybe he provides a spark. It’s not entirely the personnel, though I don’t think Rempe should be on any rookie’s wing who isn’t expected to be a grinder themselves, but the minutes and usage they’ll see. Not much for getting some momentum for a young guy.

I have no problem with any of what you said. My only qualifier would be will Carrick and Rempe hustle more than some bigger minute guys? Id like Oth with guys like Will and JT but other than those 2 I'm kind of okay with him being with guys that will hustle. Berard was with bigger names and ended up a large minus despite his hustle.

Normally I’d agree with this sarcasm but right now Rempe and Brodz are better linemates than Tro, Zib, Kreider, Panarin, and Laf

Small sample sizes, etc, etc.

Sure. But Rempe averages like 7 minutes. Can we not just once take a kid who is supposed to have top six upside and staple him to - if not having a good year, at least a veteran with good character - Trochek with Laf on the other wing (they could end up being linemates for years) and just let him play 15 minutes and get his legs moving and be involved in an NHL game and not on the bench for 53 minutes of it? Maybe he provides some spark. Instead he’ll play 7-11 minutes of mostly nothing minutes, unless he gets lucky. Just because Brodz and Rempe had a good game does not mean they’re likely to repeat it.

You’re right, but the next time the Rongos do the right thing re: prospects will be the first time

Nothing will change until the great purge which hopefully is coming this summer
