Kakko had very limited options to play with here. Panarin didn't put any effort in when they were together, and the Twins are impossible to play with.

Feel free, but with how easily triggered some of you have become, you have to worry that the smallest ember could take you all with us.

This is the NHL thread. Kakko is in the NHL. No matter how you feel, it’s going to be interesting to see what happens with him going forward and whether he manages to blossom, just finds better consistency as a middle six guy, or continues to fall on his face. It will also be interesting to see how he and Laf both fare going forward since they were selected a year apart at the top of the draft and deployed and developed similarly, by the same organization, to start their careers.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with an academic interest in watching how this unfolds and trying to analyze NYR’s development of young talent. The only reason people have to not want to hear about it is because they would prefer Kakko continues to suck as it would justify him not being successful here - placing the failure on the player, rather than our organization. I don’t see why I should care. Kakko’s success or failure doesn’t affect the Rangers, nor my personal life. I’m interested for the same reason I watch the league in general - to see what happens.

This is why I locked the trade thread. It’s time to move on and worry about our own team and players.

Funny how a guy who was traded several years ago because he was not performing to his potential is in trade talks/rumors to come back to the team he struggled with or didn’t meet his potential. You can’t make this shit up.

Happy to see the league suspend McDavid 3 games for his crosscheck to the head.

Not picking on McDavid. I just always hated seeing star players given different standards and preferential treatment.

I don't mind that but imo Myers was worse and got the same thing, one was heat of the battle the other wasn't. I do also have an issue with the referees letting that go on so long with no call, it's no wonder players snap from time to time

Clearly joking, but some of the overreactions here (while predictable) have been absurd.

I don't want him to suck either, I've never been one to shit on him (which some, not all, of the people jumping on the wagon now that hes gone have been.) I just think that declaring someone has figured it out away from here after 10 games is premature at best and just looking for and finding a reason to complain at the worst.

It's a trait that has become too common here.

Kakko was the first lottery pick the franchise ever had. Nobody locked the Kakko thread when it was constantly the most active, every day for 6 years the same people were flooding this board with complaints about Kakko.

Suddenly, Kakko is performing well somewhere else, people note it as it happens and threads get locked, people post full meltdowns and it's all apparently bc it's inappropriate to talk about a player not on the rangers? The second highest draft pick in franchise history, who was traded a month ago is somehow beyond the range of discussion?

I'm with @LokiDog. I don't really care about settling arguments on here or whatever. Time will tell on the player and even then nobody is going to change their opinions bc that's how this board has always been about everything.

Kakko is interesting bc he's among the most heavily scrutinized and polarizing players in franchise history. And it's been really weird, bordering on disturbing seeing the concerted effort put into making talking about him seem criminal on here.

I think locking his own personal thread makes sense, he isn't on the team anymore.

If we want to discuss the player thats fine too. I just think the conversation has been incredibly hyperbolic and it's tiring because it's going to lead to the reverse happening when he eventually goes cold and that shit's going to be annoying too.

Rangers fans are incredibly disgruntled. They were disgruntled for three seasons in a row when they were winning the PT and going to the ECF. Now it's on another level. Kakko is just a symbol of what Rangers fans hate. It still blows my mind why Rangers fans seem to think they're the NY Jets or NY Mets. We're a franchise obviously lacking in hardware but they're a lot closer to the Lamar Jackson Ravens or Josh Allen Bills than the NY Jets.
