(This isn’t directly to the post above, just a continuation of the discussion around these kids)
I don’t think either Bedard nor Michkov has this kind of impact on a single game. Celebrini is even younger but his “involvedness” is what makes him special. Bedard is a bit like Matthews. Gets open for a lethal shot but does so a lot by getting lost in coverage and then popping back in. Michkov reminds a bit of Panarin. Celebrini looks like Sid, Mackinnon and Connor. Not a comparison. But this is what we talk about when we debate whether Zib was ever a “true 1C” or the type of star every team fantasizes about. It’s the 1C that’s involved all over the ice all game long on both sides of the puck.
To me Bedard’s ceiling is Matthews, Michkov’s is Kaprizov and Celebrini’s is Mackinnon. I know the season Kaprizov is having, but I’m 99% sure every GM takes Mackinnon over him (I know I do). And for me, Celebrini has the highest floor by far. Kid looks special.
