Humorous that the NHL mainstream media was pearl clutching over players not wanting to come to NY over the Trouba stuff, meanwhile since then Igor has signed an extension and the Rangers were 1 of 4 teams Fowler would’ve accepted a trade to.

PEI Canada
Jordan Spence that moved here to PEI when he was 13 and knew no English is playing D for the Kings . Smart young man...speaks 3 languages fluently ,Japanese -English and French . His dad is Australian and his mom Japanese . He played a few yrs of his minor hockey here before playing Tier 2 Junior here in Summerside and then he moved up to the Q league and Moncton 3yrs and then was drafted by the Kings . 4th round pick 95th OA....for those big on the draft round . Solid young D on a solid looking up and coming team from what I watched today . Nice to see local kids do well .

Nhl and the media would love good players going elsewhere.

(This isn’t directly to the post above, just a continuation of the discussion around these kids)

I don’t think either Bedard nor Michkov has this kind of impact on a single game. Celebrini is even younger but his “involvedness” is what makes him special. Bedard is a bit like Matthews. Gets open for a lethal shot but does so a lot by getting lost in coverage and then popping back in. Michkov reminds a bit of Panarin. Celebrini looks like Sid, Mackinnon and Connor. Not a comparison. But this is what we talk about when we debate whether Zib was ever a “true 1C” or the type of star every team fantasizes about. It’s the 1C that’s involved all over the ice all game long on both sides of the puck.

To me Bedard’s ceiling is Matthews, Michkov’s is Kaprizov and Celebrini’s is Mackinnon. I know the season Kaprizov is having, but I’m 99% sure every GM takes Mackinnon over him (I know I do). And for me, Celebrini has the highest floor by far. Kid looks special.

What's Laf's ceiling?
