Bedard with 50 in 52. 4 point night for him. 9 in his last 5. Hella impressive.

Edit: 5 point night now.

There was a point in time where the scholars on the Devils boards claimed that Luke Hughes was the front runner/favorite/more deserving.

It was always going to be Bedard. Faber is a clear 2nd (no disrespect to him, excellent rookie season) and everyone else is behind them.

Only because Rempe won’t play enough games

I am very underwhelmed by Luke Hughes. The kid can skate, no doubt, but he’s going to have to add A LOT of strength if he’s going to be an effective player in this league. Kids add strength as they grow but he needs A LOT.

Failure of management not supporting the Hughes brothers with some sort of beef up front and on D. I guess they thought Meier was that but he is more of a ballerina than I thought. He also hasnt really played well since Trouba's pro bono rhinoplasty.

I think we are starting to see a change league-wide. Back when the league started going more towards speed, it was the smaller players who excelled. The larger guys just couldn't keep up as they played a certain way/style for 18-24 years before getting close to the NHL that it was impossible for them to play a new style that really leaned towards skill and speed. What we are now seeing is those bigger guys come back into the league again that have been developing to play in this new style of game for the last 10 years or so. There are going to be more 'unicorns' like Tom Wilson around.

That's not to say small players who can really skate won't excel but it may mean we see a bit of a reverting back to the norm where some of the smaller players need a bit more time to bulk up again before being inserted into the NHL lineup.

We can see this a bit with just the Rangers. Look at the Rangers team just after the lockout compared to the young players they have coming in now. Cuylle, Othmann, Rempe, Edstrom, Chmelar, Schneider. The training that the bigger guys are working with is making them more ready for the NHL game than in years past.

That's just my hypothesis but I think we see the league start to get bigger again.

Yzerman is going to still be building a barely over .500 team 5 years from now

What a fraud.
Doing absolutely nothing this offseason predictably sent a wrong message that could have used at very least an attitude bust from the management for the performance they’re giving so far.

Ovechkin now has 18 goals and is second on the cap in points so it would appear rumors of his demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Certainly still has a shot at the record if he doesn't get discouraged not being a 40 goal guy any more.

Record breaking timeline probably shifted to 25-26 season

not that atrocious helmet though and he wore a Jofa.
Gretzky was the GOAT but he had the absolutely worst drip in NHL history. That stupid Jofa, the turtleneck, the WAY too big sweater sloppily tucked .

At least in the 90s, he looked like such a doofus out there.

The Blues are wearing the Mike Keenan era sweaters.
Their best look , hands down.
