Ok, this is f*ckin' bad ass though.

You know what I’m thinking watching g all these games…we have a pretty decent team.
God I miss 1970's even 1980's hockey. This turned into such a pansy NHL. Yeah, I get it. Lots of $$$ invested in these players. Don't want them injured. But jeez, lets keep adding teams/cities, lets keep watering down the league. Let's give loser points to losers so their record doesn't look that bad........while referees are playing the game of "game management" creating more excitement for the paying spectators, yeah I get it. Sorry, I prefer teams blasting inferior teams based on their excellent play, NOT just to make the game exciting. Blowouts sometimes equated to bench clearing brawls. Yeah, the good ole' days. Please come back.
Funny enough, we now have in Gustafsson what we all hoped Nils would end up being.
Well, it took EG 7-8 years to be the polished player he is today. If you believe in the +/- stat, he was a negative for many years, and the last 3 have been positive, and even. Not really fair to totally evaluate Nils, his career is still young yet. We lucked out here, hope we re-sign him. He has been a Godsend.

Yeah, def bad-ass, but no need for that where I live. People would look at me like I'm nuts. (which btw, I am)

This is why it's so important to bank points early in the season and play with a cushion like the Rangers have. 78% of teams in a playoff spot on Thanksgiving have made the playoffs over the last 20 years. Not every game has to be a Picasso, just get the points, especially early in the season. The Rangers are a near certainty to make the playoffs and will likely be in a top 3 spot again.

yea for sure. probably the biggest downside to the loser point is that it leaves a lot of teams hanging around the bubble in the mushy middle that have no business being close, and that can shrink the potential trade market and jack up prices heading into the deadline. inevitably, some of them will put themselves on the buy side which will take a few names off the market and likely add a couple more bidders.

Didn't they add heaps of teams in the 70s to 'water down the league' and then introduce the lose rpoint in the early 80s? Are you sure you aren't hankering for 50s hockey?

Did we do this to him? I remember he blocked a shot and left

Nvm, he played against Islanders. Typical.

4 teams added in the 79/80 season and then in ‘82 the league went from 17 skaters to 18. In effect adding 21 more players so it was the equivalent of adding 5 teams. Coincidently right during the isles 4 cup run.

This could actually work out pretty nicely for NJ.

Hamilton has been struggling on the defensive end.

Nemec gets time in the big league.

Fitz now has additional cap to upgrade G and D.

Hamilton comes back sometime during the POs when he is subject to Kucherov accounting.
