Mika is actually a strong player...when he wants to be. Not physical, but he's got good speed, good puck protection, and is strong on his stick.
Well that's a huge problem. Did he not want to be in this series? His inconsistency is maddening, as is his refusal to just shoot the f***ing puck. That 2 on 1, 8 seconds into the game last night was infuriating. As was his knuckleball one timer right into Schmid's chest when he was out of position. He's too good to be a complete no show, which unfortunately happens way too often when he's not engaged.

He's gotten too comfortable and lazy with that one-timer of his. And it was a wrister of his that got him a goal, 5v5.

No, it is absolutely a major issue. Don't get me wrong, that wasn't an excuse. In my opinion. he is second behind Panarin on the list of players I'm most disappointed in from these playoffs.

I was up out of my chair fully expecting Zibanejad to do his patented fake then five hole or pull what he did to Vasilevskiy in game 1 of the season. Infuriating he didn't get shot or chance.

Zibanejad needs to get away from kreider, other than the powerplay, they bring out the worst in eachother 5v5, in my opinion. get a player on his wing to drag him into the fight, just like I want trocheck to do for kreider

True...Keeps the cap down which is the league's ultimate goal.
The cap is tied to revenue, why would they want to keep it down?

Also, I have no idea how much playoff tickets are, but surely with such limited seating, there isn't a huge difference between the revenue that would be collected from various tickets. How much more can the Rangers really charge for a ticket to the 3rd round than Seattle?

I get it for season tickets etc, but for a playoff run I would have thought most teams generate similar revenue

It's a broken record at this point...Substitute the player of your choice.

I can't speak with regards to other players because Zibs has shown he can score all types of goals and has more in his repertoire.

Zibs was bad, but Panarin takes Laf's cake: conststant turnovers, passing and getting rid of the puck to no one, standing still defensively and waiting for the puck.

I love watching a unit of 5 just not think or hesitate at all doing the hockey
I know I'll get killed for it, but as much as Fox is deified here, his "slow the game down to a snail's pace" has gotten extremely stale. Seems like the league has caught on to it & he's a bit of a one trick pony. He's not doing himself or the team any favors. The power play is most effective when we zip passes & keep the puck & our players moving constantly. Over the 2nd half of the season, he was handling the puck like a grenade because teams were pressuring the hell out of him & he was too slow to react or compensate.

Well put. If he can't outthink or outmaneuver the forecheck, he's pretty much toast. We have a core group of one trick ponies. Kreider with the tipping. Zib with the one- timer. Panarin just a passer. Trouba with the hitting but a disaster on special teams

I'm being sarcastic, kinda. The owners could give a shit about anything but profits, so they've been rolling in shit with a flat cap & record revenues. They'd love any reason to not raise the cap. I've been vocal quite often that the cap isn't about anything other than salary suppression by the owners.

I hope the Rangers decision makers are watching the games tonight and have it hit them how far behind the Rangers are in terms of team speed and transition. Watching the Rangers is like watching Dead Puck Era hockey in comparison to the two games tonight.
Thinking the same, about how far behind we look now.

You know who could do that?

Leetch.

That's why I cringe when people compare the two.
I said that in the post game thread on Saturday after we won game 6 & got killed for it, but I will double down. The comparison needs to stop. Fox is a very good player...he's not Brian Leetch. It's not a crime, it's just the truth. Leetch raised his game in the playoffs like not too many others could. Fox in this series was just meh. I don't want to hear about his 8 assists....the team needed him to step up & he was the worst player on the ice besides Panarin in Game 7 & he was just average in the rest of the series.

He's a very good dman but I don't think he's the best in the league. I always get killed for saying that to my fellow Rangers fans in real life.

When Hakstol coached Philly, he was Michael Knight. Now in Seattle, he is Garthe Knight
