Or you end up like Buffalo in a constant state of rebuild and trading players away who always preform better after you move them. Eichel, ROR, Reinhart, They just keep spinning their tires over there and they aren't even trying to speed it up.
Ownership, Management and coaching is the reason for their failure ... bringing back Ruff looks like a good move so far he has them in a playoff spot.

Buffalo is the cautionary tale of trying to rebuild in an undesirable market.

I think you can do it you just have to get lucky. Toronto managed to grab Matthews and Marner which catapulted their status. Still haven't won anything but they are competitive now. Pittsburgh is another example of just being bad and the right time and snagging Crosby and Malkin. Same as Chicago getting Kane and Toews. Tampa having a bad run and snagging Stammer and Hedman while getting lucky with Kuch and Vasi. Buffalo thought they would get there with Eichel but I think he never really wanted to be there and was a terrible leader. In Vegas he doesn't have to be the biggest voice in the room and now he's playing like he always should have.

This is all to say that there is always more than one way to build a competitive roster but luck will always be a factor. Some times you draft a Crosby or McDavid and sometimes you draft a Stefan or a Yakupov. But generally being at the top of the draft is going to pay dividends if you are patient.

They did get 2 oilers first rounders for basically free.

Marner has been a curse for the leafs. If he was a playoff star (other than taking an impressive amount of delay of game penalties) they would have been cup favourites.

Honestly despite their lack of success in the playoffs. He sells a boat load of merch and they are generally a competitive team which they would likely prefer over what they were in the Kessel years despite making it a bit further.

So voodoo is better than actual doctors?

Thought his actual problem was between his ears
Mmm try again. We agree on lots of stuff but not here.

Sure he has the big bucks to try alternate methods but maybe that his issue has no treatment that works. Did you try thinking of it from that angle?

There are blood or auto immune disorders with real treatments. Did you know that?

Actually I do know a lot about that as my father died from a blood cancer

I saw Biz posting yesterday and some jokes from Whitney about it but don't know what specifically happened other than he got jumped and "gave more than he got" (according to Biz...although I don't doubt it...who's tangling with an ex-NHL enforcer type?)

7 guys.

No or. They did exactly what I described. Repeatedly.

Avs goaltending is hilariously awful. 0.870 team save percentage is like 1980s goaltending. (Too bad we couldn’t see this in April…)

I think it’s likely past the point where they hope Georgiev/Annunen snaps out of it, and they’re going to overpay for someone like John Gibson or Cam Talbot. It’s probably the only way they salvage the season.

That is IF whoever they overpay for pans out.

How on earth does Jack Roslovic have 12 goals already this season?

Currently he has a 22.2 shooting percent and his career average over a large sample size is about 12%. He should have about 6 goals right now but he is on a heater. The other part that has changed is he is shooting allot more so far this season in Carolina than he has on any other team. He is currently pacing for 200 shots this season and the his previous high was 131 shots one season in Columbus.

If and its a big if, he has been placed on a line and in a position to shoot 200 times then he instantly becomes close to a 30 goal scorer even if he regresses to the mean shooting % wise. Keeping it in perspective Mark Schiefele has only reached the 200 shot level in one season.

I think right now the sample size is pretty small and I will check in again late in the season to see what it looks like. The total lack of assists seems just as bizarre.
