Sounds like a Draisaitl extension is being announced today.
8 years at 14 million a year.
I wonder if the Jets will ever sign a player for more than 10M..
It will be inevitable if the cap keeps climbing. But we haven't had a player worth it in the current t environment.
Glad I read your post before I posted the exact same thing.Ya, I think my thoughts are more in the line of, will a player who is worth over 10M ever sign in Winnipeg.
And at what level will Drai be playing six or seven years from now?8 years at 14 million a year.

I can't imagine him being worth 14 million in the final years of his career.
That Drysaddle contract is going to stink in year 7 and 8
Just like the onions that were left in the last thread .......
I don't think they really care about year 7 and 8.
tell that to Daryl Katz's chequebook .......
Let’s see how this goes for the Oilers long term.I wish the Jets could have a top 5 player in the league that we could complain about “overpaying”
I think McDavid's contract will be north of $16 M.Glad I read your post before I posted the exact same thing.
Countdown to McDavid signing for a $14,000,001 annual salary.
The Pens were able to break through a 2nd time after years of things going stale post-Crosby/Malkin ELC
Edmonton doesn't feel like their window is shutting, it feels like they could still compete.
I'm not sure Stan Bowman was the right GM to find a balance between moneyball and team culture/toughness. If he does find the right type of supporting cast, Oil have a huge head start even with Drai and McDavid making 30 mil combined...
McDrai isn't the same thing as those expensive Leafs. McDrai show up in the playoffs at an elite level. Look at what they do to guys like Maroon and Hyman. They elevate the players around them.Let’s see how this goes for the Oilers long term.
I can’t see tying up 4 guys **with high cap hits being beneficial long term.
** McDavid’s is going to be a doozy when it comes.
As for the Jets we weren’t gifted high draft picks for sucking long term or getting a lottery win.
I can’t see this organization handcuffing itself with two or three high cap hits knowing they have to ice a semi competitive roster.
One thing Edmonton has that we don’t is a larger more loyal fan base that supports them even in lean times
Helle is up there, but he's not overpaidI wish the Jets could have a top 5 player in the league that we could complain about “overpaying”
If it were up some on HFJETS it'd be trade out of your elite or V good players that keep you competitive for years, for some overhyped prospects and other junk.Edmonton has a lot of deals coming up when McDavid's new deal would kick in. They've got some guys on likely under market value deals for that period as well. I think when you have two of the best players in the league long term, you take that problem and run.
I don't think they really care about year 7 and 8.
