For as much flak as Bettman and the NHL catch with regards to growing the game, the 4 Nations Faceoff was a slam dunk and it is cool to see the Tkachuk brothers being out there talking about the tournament.

This is the kind of stuff that people complained that the NHL didn't do.

Tuch and Cozens for EP is not a great deal for us.
Well, we know that they will never retain 50% on Tuch, so that is a non-starter right there.

:sarcasm:

While I am scared of all the red flags with EP40 today, that is the type of move that I would prefer the Sabres make if they were to move on from Cozens and Tuch.

They can't move them for futures and I would prefer that they try and package them for a "best guy in the deal" type player at a position of need.

It could have been Tuch + Cozens for EP40 + Garland

Kind of crazy that Carolina has this much of an issue signing Rantanen ..

Low taxes.. palm trees 🌴 and a winning team.

I wonder what his desired location is..

Like Doak said above -- at this point, and given Carolina's stingy history, he's likely to get quite a bit more on the market than he would get from Carolina. I don't blame him whatsoever.

Isn't it reported that they have 14 mill a year on table? ... How much more he expecting?

It could simply be:

He's 4 months from being able to CHOOSE from 10+ (at a minimum) markets where he wants to spend the next 7 years.

Why rush to sign somewhere just because they traded for you? He owes Carolina nothing. Its not like in Colorado where you have been an established part of a community. The only real issue is he's potentially risking a lot of money if he gets a major injury in the rest of the season/playoffs.
