Nashville fans in the trade thread are not happy with Trotz. Making it seem like a kid who just wasn’t getting a proper chance.

Fitz may want to take a kick at the Trotz can. Maybe they’ll talk tonight in person
I've advocated multiple times now that they should give a call about acquiring McCarron.

He's getting killed on the scoreboard right now, but I suspect that will even out. He's rocking that sweet .823 save percentage. As a 4th line center, he's holding his head above water on a bad team in terms of underlyings. 47.5 XGF%, 48% scoring chances, 54% of the high danger chances.

Kills penalties, 54% in the dot. 900K this year and next which covers a Lazar exit.

Oh and since we know it matters to Fitz, he's not a smol boi lol

NJ could really use someone that can play defense well enough that they can spell Hischier a bit more often on defense zone draws late in the game.

Looks like he got into a shoving match with a teammate in practice and then missed a game with an upper body injury. I’d take him for a bag of pucks.

I don't imagine it would be very pricey. They just gave away Tomasino for a '27 4th round pick. McCarron is a 4th line center, which is something we could use if we want.

My understanding is that Evangelista took offense to a hit McCarron laid on him during practice and went after him. Doesn't seem like that big of a deal.

not sure whats more likely them trading krieder who seems like a lifer to me or that the maven is actually writing these out

You clearly underestimate Stan's need to write out as much text as he can, in whatever output he can find.

Coming off 2 losses where they were dominated territorially. Schedule has been as butter soft as it gets with no back to backs. They’ve lost against the top opponents on their schedule.
When it comes to personnel, Zibs has been invisible on 5v5 again, and Kreider is showing signs of decline. Outside of Miller/Fox their defense hasn't been good, and even that pair has been feeling the heat lately.

The game against the Flames was close only through the grace of Shesty.

Aren't the Rangers like 12-5 and a point or two behind us with games in hand? Why the panic in Rangerland?

This was written in The Athletic on Thursday. Since then, they've gone on to lose to Calgary and get smoked by Edmonton....

12. Top-six worries in New York

The Rangers’ underlying numbers look more formidable than usual, but that’s being entirely driven by the bottom six — all of whom rank ahead of the team’s top six in both xG and goals this season. That’s good news for the team’s depth, but the stars not shining at five-on-five is not ideal.

Across the board, all five returning members of the top six have seen considerable drops at five-on-five compared to last season.

Rangers’ big five 2023-24

xG with: 51.2 percent
Goals with: 52.8 percent

xG without: 44.9 percent
Goals without: 44.3 percent

Rangers’ big five 2024-25

xG with: 49.3 percent
Goals with: 45.4 percent

xG without: 60.5 percent
Goals without: 83.1 percent

Mika Zibanejad’s line has been an especially big problem here with Zibanejad’s xG percentage dropping to 44 percent on the season, one of the worst marks on the team. The Rangers have paid the price for it on the scoreboard, too, being outscored by a 13-8 margin.

That effect has at least been recognized by the coaching staff to the point that it may actually be unfair to call Zibanejad’s line the team’s second line. His minutes at five-on-five have been cut to 11.7 per game this year, eighth among forwards on the team and down from 13.1 per game last year.

13. Rangers’ soft schedule

What makes all that especially worrying? The Rangers have had the second easiest schedule so far with an average opponent Net Rating of minus-11.

Of New York’s 17 games, only six have come against likely playoff teams, where the Rangers have generally struggled. They’re taking care of business against the league’s weakerthans, but they’ll need to step it up against the better teams going forward. The five-on-five divide is noteworthy.

Rangers vs. above-average teams (3-3-0)
xG: 40.1 percent
Goals: 40.7 percent

Rangers vs. below-average teams (9-1-1)
xG: 61.0 percent
Goals: 69.3 percent

I laughed so hard at washed up Trouba.

I'm not sure why he has it in for Igor though.

LOL....

Also didn't realize Kreider was making a run at the Cy Young this season. 9 goals and 0 assists through 19 games. Impressive.

Wow, the Rangers are looking to move Trouba?

That’s a brand new development and obviously very doable.

I would probably prefer the Rangers without their most lethal PP forward.

Why the f*** is it panic city over there? Is Drury on the hot seat lol

f*** that. Impartial shmartial, Stan has earned the right to say whatever he wants. He drop the puck at the first ever hockey game. Stop being a wuss Jan Levine, if that’s your real name.
Besides Stan is basically semi-retired and a really well-known blogger at this point, it's not like he's on the day to day beat. I don't think Robert's Rules of journalism apply here.

Who did Nashville get back?

I'm assuming it's some guy that played pee wee with Sidney Crosby as a kid.

I'm not sure what makes him so qualified to be the GM.

First ever head coach there? No front office experience until he stopped coaching?

How many successful GM's made it 25 years as a head coach in the league?

It's currently the most nepo, celebratory GM hire in the league.

It's funny, didn't they do the same thing with that Finnish kid? I forgot his name. Seattle claimed him on waivers and Poile later on said that maybe he made a mistake and that's on him.
