Just lame absolutely lame putting it nicely. They should at minimum just stick their logo on the whalers colors at least
They really should be. I would bet there haven't been many years where a team only 2 games above NHL 500 after 56 games actually made the playoffs, which is what the Rangers had before their current 2 game winning streak. You don't see many teams with much more 30 regulation losses making the playoffs and they already have 25.I remember when you said the Rangers were out. Check the standings.

But it's definitely happened before. I'm sure when Philly and Montreal made the playoffs in 2010 with like 87 points a piece they couldn't have been doing much better at that point in the season. I bet the 14-15 Hamburglar Sens had a pretty meh record after 58 games before the Hamburglar heater got going.
It looks like Ottawa is probably done due to several significant injuries. So there's still a path for the Rangers, especially if Columbus regresses. Moneypuck has the Rangers currently with an astronomically higher chance to make the playoffs than Columbus. They have Columbus at 18.8% currently with an expected finish of 86.7 points. They have the Rangers at 47.6% and a projected 89.9 point finish. The Rangers they have at the 9th highest odds in the East. Ottawa they have just ahead of them with a 48.8% chance and a projected 90.5 point finish.
So the year the Panthers ALMOST made the playoffs in 2018 when they went on that late heater and missed by like one point to us and DD was telling us every night they're coming for us, They were 27-25-6 for 60 points at the 58 game mark. They wound up going 17-5-2 the rest of the way, but finished with 96 points. That will almost definitely get you in the playoffs this year. I mean f***, Metro 2 looks like it could possibly finish with only 96 points this year lol.
The Rangers currently have almost the same record the 22-23 Panthers did after 58 games and the same point total. They actually did rally back to make the playoffs and only needed 92 points to get in. 92 points SHOULD get you in this year.
As far as the Rangers go, it's probably a coin flip at this point. I do know one thing. I wouldn't be shocked if they beat Washington in round one if they did get in. Everyone keeps asking ''When are the Caps gonna regress? When are they gonna stop scoring 5 goals on 18 shots every game?'' and I think A LOT of us could see it happening if they go head to head with the Rangers in round one. Or really anyone, but I'd say the Rangers better than another team because they have an elite goalie. I'm not saying they DEFINITELY WILL beat Washington if they get in and play them, but nobody can tell me they can't see it actually happening if the Rangers do get in.
I think they'll probably win round one, but if you asked what team they have a better chance of losing to if they face in round one?Things have lined up well for the Caps this season. I think they're for real and will win at least 1 round, doesn't matter who it will be in Round 1, including the Rangers. They're enjoying their 22-23 Devils season, while we're on track to be the 23-24 Capitals.

Elvis and the Blue Jackets? Talbot and the Red Wings? Or Shesterkin's Rangers? I would say Shesterkin has the best odds. I'm also not at all sold on them being upset by Travis Green's Senators if they draw them.

I think we were 6th before last night’s game.
