The leaves drama continue

I mean this storm was known about since the weekend... would be crazy if they dialed back and said this was a phone hearing...

Kind if crazy that there's phone or in person hearings at all... like they had never heard of zoom? I've had full TV pitches by zoom - same as being there in person really

Basically every "in-person" hearing since Covid has been done on zoom.

I mean why not just do the 'telephone' hearing by zoom as well then... why specify a difference

They'd have to reopen the CBA, an in-person hearing is the only way that they can suspend a player longer than 5 games. When a player is facing an in-person hearing they have to offer the "in-person hearing" even if it does end up being a video call.

Watch... Toronto will appeal whatever the suspension is because the "in-person" hearing wasn't really "in-person" because of weather.

The best thing about all this is Toronto will just come out looking like bigger losers, because they will appeal the suspension no matter what it is, and they will publicly say how unjust life is... just because they can't help themselves.

Welll well well that explains why they delayed the hearing until today. I'm pretty sure they saw the weather report on Saturday ... now the suspension will be less because its not in person.
Seriously this has to been the longest drawn out announcement of a non-suspension/suspension in the history of sports.

Can't wait until this is done so it stops taking over our forum. :naughty:

Waiver pickups should need to play immediately. No press box shit. Kind of defeats the purpose of the waiver wire which is to get these guys into playing.

It is unfair to the players.
That's a little tricky. I'm sure Chisholm is happy he's still getting an NHL paycheck and practicing with an NHL team. I'm 100% sure he'd rather be there than with the Moose. But you do raise an interesting point. Maybe teams should have to play a waiver-claim in X number of games within 30 days of claiming him or something and if they don't, he automatically goes back on waivers.

The stress on these guys must be insane. Being a tweener is tough. Your whole life plans can depend on getting a full year nhl salary over a couple of years.

Or how about we take the "conspiracy theory" route and suggest that at a time when the NHL is potentially looking at its demise they see a potential cash cow in the Habs making the final.

The one and only "conspiracy theory" in hockey I ascribe to is that the NHL actively cooked the all-star vote to keep Rory Fitzpatrick out of the All-Star Game, and at least there's some hard statistical evidence to back that up, not to mention the shit they pulled on John Scott to try and keep him out.

But yeah, if the choice is "putting the Habs on a pedestal" and "the death of hockey", I mean, I hear volleyball is really fun once you get into it.

Totally agree ... I wouldn't even care except Dillon got suspended for 3 games and Reilly suspension should be at least double but they keep delaying it.
2 1/2 hours before puck drop for the Leafs game and no word.

Now I know why Trouba wanted out of Winnipeg.
If he stayed he would have been suspended half the time but since he's in NY this is a clean head lol
