If you and your friends are into hockey and quizzes, ask them to name the top 6 defensemen of the 23-24 Sharks based on average ice time. Without having a decent grasp of recent trades and/or the Sharks' prospect pool, 99% of people aren't getting more than one.

I can see why Gawanke decided to pull the plug. If the shot isn't coming in that group, it probably isn't coming at all.

Off the top of my head, Vlasic, Emberson I think his name is? Though he's been injured for a bit. They picked him up of waivers. Addison, Mukhamadullin was recently called up, Henry Thrun, Okt...yohks? Or something? Came in the Meier trade. Ferraro still there maybe?

EDIT: Forgot Rutta and Burroughs, MacDonald too but I'm pretty sure he's actually been playing forward for them. Thrun, Ferraro have been injured. Forgot about Benning too who is also injured.

3/6. You named four correct ones and three wrong ones.
Correct.

I thought Rutta would be a good pickup for Chevy if he came cheap.
His AAV is 2.75m with one more season on it. His actual salary is 2.5m a year.
He is a two time cup champ...he knows what it takes.
6' 3" 205lbs. but turns 34 this summer.
He is averaging 19:25 a game and I thought he would be a good partner for Heinola for a season.

Here is one review on him...
"The veteran Czech defenseman owns good size and a championship pedigree. Has a good point shot but is not a threat to put up a lot of points. He is at his best when utilized as a stay-at-home defender, ideally paired with a more offensive partner. He is very useful in a sheltered role and not used too much. Can kill penalties with aplomb."

I wonder what he would cost?

Cute. Did you have training in music theory or do you just buy their CDs?
Never studied music, never learned to play any instrument. Maybe 20 years back, some friends gave the wife the first Mannheim Steamroller Christmas CD and we've been big fans of them ever since. Even went so far as to travel to some shithole of a concert hall (Cincinnati?) to see them play and they put on a knockout show.

You know when even 90% of main boards posters are agreeing, that this ruling is brutal and just reeks of DOPS either having a hate-on for the Jets, or having a soft touch when it comes to big markets. Same with the Schiefel hit on Evans ... we've seen worse get less, we've seen WAY worse get only an extra game or two.

What is Parros' issue with Winnipeg? He still played a few seasons when the Jets re-entered the league but I'm not aware of any particular issues. You'd think if he'd have a prejudice against anyone it would be the Leafs or Islanders.

While I know that criticizing calls by officials is something that can have a touch of a partisan bias, I really don't know how many more fanbases and how many more teams' management need to get behind the idea that Parros is unsuited for his job before the league takes it seriously.

The Rangers thought it was worth a quarter of a million dollars to tell the league that Parros is unqualified, I mean, that's kind of unprecedented in my life.

Jesus Christ, that Sergachev injury looked gruesome. That could well be a career-altering, if not a career-ending blow.

The ducks oilers game felt a bit like a jets leafs game where a large percentage of the crowd was cheering the away team. McD is so good

Watching the festivities for MAF and his 1000 games in the NHL and it was stated that they didn't think another goalie would play 1000 games at the goalie position ever again. So I'm wondering Helle will play his 500th game this year all done in 9 years, does he have a chance 9 more years would make him 40.
It's obviously going to be tough, but I think Helle has a good of a shot as any.

He stays extremely fit, is a workhorse and his economy of movement not only protects against injury, but that playstyle allows for longevity in my mind. Relying on sound positioning and anticipation, along with his size means he's not depending on reflexes as much.

Still a very tall order.

Im confused about waivers... I thought your waiver claim had to be on the active roster not just PB - Chisholm has yet to play for the Wild...

No way border stuff is taking that long for an NHL player... TNSE needs to get better at cheating.

The press box members are part of the 23 man roster. Just like he was with the Jets for the vast majority of the season.

Damn, Calgary has been playing well since they traded Lindholm. It will be interesting to see how long they can keep this up.

I still think they should trade Hanifin, but who real knows with Flames ownership/management.
