Really love the job Grier is doing for San Jose. Has absolutely nailed the rebuild thus far.

I actually had my doubts until this year. Teams that end up with high picks often wait (or never actually do) to pick a top end defensemen. If they ever do pick a top D he often doesn't become an impact player until the elite forwards have priced themselves out of town or have destroyed the teams cap. Think Edmonton and Toronto.

San Jose addressed that with Dickinson this year. I think he'll be an impact player within 3 years.

Over Here
Marco Rossi starting to find his way in the NHL.. up to 9 goals and 23 pts in 26 games. With Ek out Rossi got moved up to the top line last night 2g 1a

Good to see him having a good start to the year .. missing more than a year of hockey with heart and lung issues resulting from covid. It took him some to get back to full health and back on track wrt his hockey career
I'm at the bottom of my pool so am embracing a full rebuild of my keepers. Rossi, Celebrini, Johnson, Michkov, Lafreniere, Faber, Gustavsson, Kotchkev, disappointing seasons so far from Dobson and Sanderson on D and Forsberg at FWD (and I have Quinn Hughes)...we keep 4, so I should be good again as early as the year after next.

Keefe - “Leafs have the best Goaltending in the league”

I love the mind games that coaches try on playoff rivals. Excellent plant by Keefe, this will help him in the spring

Leafs goaltending has been great this year. Main reason they are in 1st place.

Being #1 in November and #1 in a must win home playoff game is a completely different pressure. Keefe just adding to the expectations on Stolarski and no one knows the nerves of Leafs fans and goalies better then Keefe.

They have the best goaltending they've ever had during their failed timeline with this core. Both guys are legit options they can go to. I do think it's a cause for concern, but still expect them to choke.

Yeah I was sceptical after Treliving blew up Calgary but he’s done a pretty nice job in Toronto so far imo

I was a little more forgiving in general having followed them a bit and hearing about all the pressure from Ownership in Calgary saying no to a rebuild. He botched the Tkachuk situation, but I, like many others, thought the trade they made would be a good one and was on the heels of Tkachuk's poor playoff showing. Weegar is awesome, but Huberdeau cratering really hurt that team a lot. But ya, they were more of a bubble team staying alive on fumes that probably should have folded their cards sooner.

No thread for today’s game yet, but B365 has us -245, what could go wrong? (Sarcasm)

It was -260 earlier today, more people taking the Ducks if I have that right on how betting lines move based on the liability on the books. Don’t blame them, I think Sens but not to the confidence of those crazy odds.

Still blows my mind no team beat 2.5M x 2YRs for Stolarz.

Career .915 SV% goalie that never got the chance to be a starter.
Even as a high-end pure backup 2.5x2 is super reasonable. There was also upside if he could play more games. Great sign in for them!

I wouldn’t feel great going -200 in any game against Anaheim this year with how crazy their goalies have performed.

I thought that both Stolarz and Broisset would get more, given how teams now lean to using tandems.

It is possible that he had a better offer from another team but chose Toronto because he may have thought there was a better opening to get the starter job and parlay it into a big contract.
