I believe that was Celebrini. We actually couldn't draft Bedard since we had 12th overall, and could only jump to 2nd overall at best.
Wasn't Celebrini, 4 teams had better odds last year

Sens haven't had the best odds in any year, 2018 and 2020 they had the 2nd best and dropped back 2 and 3 spots. 2019 they never had a pick but they would have had best odds

Was it Celebrini or Bedard that the Sens had the best odds for right before the last ball was drawn in the lottery? Either way, we've had a rough go at those.

Iirc, didn't we have the best odds for Crosby just before the last lotto ball number? Then the last one sent him over to Pittsburgh.

By that I mean the list of numbers each team got (like lotto tickets), not the actual draft lotto odds that we do now. We got the first 3 numbers and whiffed on the last one?

Celebrini, assuming this is what you’re talking about:

At this point, with a 2-7-10 draw, the Sharks had five chances to win the lottery (with a 4, 9, 11, 13 or 14).

The No. 2 Chicago Blackhawks were a "3" away from leapfrogging the Sharks for the top pick.

The No. 6 Utah Hockey Club was just an "8" away.

The No. 7 Ottawa Senators were a "12" from it.

The Sharks still had by far the best odds though, with five numbers. We were in a three way tie for second best odds though.

I think maybe the covid draft year there was something about us having the best odds after 3 of the 4 balls had been picked. I definitely remember something along those lines but it wasn't a recent draft, so not Bedard or Celebrini. Might have happened more than once, we don't always get adjust odds mid ping pong ball...

If it was the Covid year I guess it worked out for the best since we got Stützle and Sanderson

we had the best odds at Laf with the two high picks we had in 2020

Not what we're talking about though, that's combined odds of one of two picks winning.

What was initially referenced was odds mid lottery,

The way the lottery works is there are 14 ping pong balls, four of which are drawn. Each team gets a set of the 1001 potential combinations depending on their seeding, which if picked would signify a "win". The story was that after the first 3 ping pong balls came out, we had the best odds that the last ball would complete the set to fall into one of "our" combinations.
