I don’t want to get in trouble so before I say anything is there a story behind the Boston play by play guy?
I checked. My audio is playing at full speed.

Edit: ok I see jack edwards has some health issues and is slurring his words.
That’s too bad but time to retire then. Sorry.
He's been seeing doctors for a speech problem.

I wouldn't worry. He made a living taunting people who were hurt so it's fair game
He's an asshole.

Boston is one heck of a hockey team, proof you don't need a ton of elite talent to be successful. You just the right type of players that are willing to play the right way. Each player on that team understand his role and they play for one another.

Are leaf fans still chanting they want Boston?
4-1 5mins left.
No they want Florida

Of the 16 teams out of the playoffs, 12 remain out.

Of the bottom 10 teams, 6 remain in the bottom 10

An NHL team's season effectively ends by game 9 or 10.

Or you could look at it like 40% of teams that start slow end up in the playoff hunt (just not the Sens).

It’s a glass half full kind of situation just so long as you don’t cheer for the Sens.

this is an issue the league needs to analyze and address.

If you get on Statmuse, you will see the bottom 10 teams this year, are also the same bottom 10-15 teams with a cumulatively bad record over a 5 to 10 year period.

The league is stratified. Once good, a team remains good. Once bad, it remains bad.

32 teams has meant, it is difficult to draft out of trouble (quickly). A cap has meant that you cannot spend your way out. Trade deadline, FA day in July, seems to ensure that the rich get richer and the poor remain poor.

What has happened this year is the same for years past. If you look at the data, you can go back 10-15 years and it is similar.

The league needs to find a way to be Robin Hood.. Somehow take from the rich and give to the poor (Talent wise, not money).

Insane that a mere 10% of total games played, paint the picture.

It cannot be easy to be in sales and marketing for the 10-12 teams that are out by Oct 30 or 31st. Accounting for road and home games, these teams may have 38-39 dates to fill.

Solutions are needed.. A major one may have to be expanded playoffs.

Ohh well. Imagine the chaos next Oct 31.

If you get on the 416, then I95, then a boat, then a plane, then a dog sled, then a boat, then a Toyota 4Runner, boat again, train (not that kind), dog sled (not the same one, dogs get tired), hitch hike for a bit, bus....you end up back in Ottawa. f*** Bettman.

Vegas identifies the guys they want and they go out and get them. They move the guys out they can replace. Thanks for coming nice having you. Fantastic trade negotiators and cap manipulators.

They are not cheating.. and they don't like cheaters

Seemed like a steep price to pay for Hertl, as I don't know how well his contract will age, but 17% retention is huge.

8.1375M is steep but 6.75M isn't bad at all.,

Vegas will have 3 prospects to fill out their roster in a few years. In all serious, could be an epic decline for them. Although...yeah, who knows what they'll do to quell that.

The hilarious part of this trade is that moving their 2025 1st in this deal bumps the Hanifin 1st to 2026.

They still hold onto their 2024 1st and will probably get a nice futures return for Thompson or Hill in the summer.

'No prospects' is just small-market copium.

You don't need prospects when every player in the league is lining up to play for you. Vegas are a top destination for UFA's and players with trade protection. No need to worry whether some scrub like Max Guenette or Angus Crookshank will be able to fill a depth role when you're in that sort of situation.

It would be hilariously sad if Vegas got a top pick with the first we need to give them.

I hate to say this but an option is to have 2 tiers.

This is quickly becoming a league that feels like there's no real path to success for the Senators even available. Maybe it's always been that way and I just had childlike wonder, but woof are some of those US teams just drowning in riches in comparison.
