I sort of do as well. He’s a backup goaltender being essentially paid as such. He isn’t good but I think a large amount of blame gets put solely on him and that simply isn’t fair. Last year and thus far this years there is plenty of blame to lie at others feet…from management on down. I’d be much more concerned that McDrai have been mostly been passengers two finals in a row. This year they’ve been a net negative.

But seriously, the Oilers defensive zone coverage is just awful. When they don’t have historic PK and PP numbers this is what happens.

Oilers no clue what they do. Ekholm, kulak, Walman, Stecher have 1 year left emberson has 2. Nurse a few years. Bouchard is rfa with arb rights and numbers to make his case. Up front Kane, Arvidsson, Henrique is $12 mill in cap with a year left.

A year from now they’re searching to replace 4 Dmen and needing quality.

It's kinda amazing how many f***-ups Edmonton had last offseason (Arvidsson, Holloway, Trading the 2025 1st, Skinner) and how different this series might look if they handled things differently.

But exhausted teams that are losing and see a goal like that tend to look really tired. Much more tired than the winning team.

But as we saw in game 4 it’s not over yet but by and large for the bulk of the last 3 games the Panthers have been dominant. A comepletely different class of team.

Honestly? I feel bad for Skinner. This game isn't on him despite that awful third goal, but he'll absorb all the blame. Bouchard and Ekholm have been a train wreck, Nurse is Nurse and the greatest player in the world looks pedestrian.

We could loan Edmonton prime Demko and it'd still be a close series with how bad their defense has been.

Many things wrong on that shift but wow that was worse than Cloutier. At least the Cloutier beach ball bounced.

Honestly I think Skinner may not have the fitness to be in a crouch for an extended shift and maintain concentration. Terrible excuse of course.

Skinner just doesn't have NHL-level athleticism. Maybe he'd do fine back when goalies slammed beers as pre-workout and played upright. But you have 2m tall dudes nowadays going down quickly on the butterfly and doing the splits. Imagine having the confidence of Tim Thomas but none of the moves to back it up...

If McDavid seriously looks at the roster it’s not looking good in the near term. Due to age and contract, the D needs a massive upgrade with ekholm, Walman, kulak due up in 26. Forwards, Kane, Henrique, arvidsson also due up. Not much in prospects or draft capital.

No doubt. His movement is terrible and if he isn’t perfectly square to the puck it’s going in or a rebound is coming.
