Thats is not the reasons the Canucks hired Foote. I am sure they liked that he was good with the players including Hughes. for the record, I would not have hired foote... but I understand the reasons.

I disagree. It's %100 to appease Quinn Hughes.

Thats how you lose control of the situation... or you could just not give teams the right to speak to teams to Hughes. Then if it happens to be a team he wants to go to... you let them talk extension to maximise the trade, and if it is not a team he wants to go to... well too bad they had the best bid.

Hehe you think we're in control of this one.

Play ball or hold him hostage and let him walk for free. Those are the choices here.

Its Maximising the value to keep as many teams in the bidding war for as long as possible. The hope yes is that the team he is traded to is the one he wants and that you can then let them talk. but if you shrink the list too early teams will know they can out wait you.
For sure.... Which is why I do believe, if the goal is max value for him, you kind of have to move him his off-season. But, a talent like him, you do everything you can to build around him. So, it's a massive off-season. Only so many moves they can make via trades with their limited assets. They need to be the right ones.

honestly i think what happened to us last year is going to happen to florida

the big mistake was blowing up skinner so bad they had to take him out. so just like last year, pickard comes in and shows he’s just a backup. skinner gets a reset and when he gets back in he plays (just) good enough for them to win, instead of not good enough to win.

ours were tight games so we had to score all those goals. but florida should have held back and not embarrassed him in game three.
The Oilers will lose game six

Yak, not as talented as hoped and refused to learn and adjust.

Weak draft
1. Yak
2. Ryan Murphy (average player, injury prone)
3. Galchenyuk (settled into a mid tier player, 2nd lineat peak)
4. G. Reinhart (bad)

5-10 okish but 3 good Dmen (Reilly, lindholm, trouba)

11-23 was very solid. , Forberg, wilson, hertl, Teravainen, Vasilivsky, Matheson a few support Laughton, Faksa, Ceci, Maata and Jankowski.

The big issue is a bad top 4.

I still get a good laugh when I watch Brian Burke rip into Yakupov, saying how the latter acted like an arrogant entitled brat during pre-draft interview, and almost got into a fist fight with one of the staff members, for some reason.

And of course, Dallas Eakins being a horrendous coach especially when it comes to mentoring new players certainly didn't do him any good either.

I think I generally agree... the problem is the best play is not to maximize his value... but keep him and maximize the asset.

We are a better team with him. that means doing whatever you can to keep him. I do think he probably stays. I think he wants to build a winner and be the huge cog of that, that being captain means something. Having said that I think if the team falls flat on its face... there is a very good chance he leaves.

Looking forward to tonight.

Best 2 players in the world vs the best team in the world.
I wouldn't go so far as to say Podz is one of the two best players in the world, but yeah, if he doesn't put the oil on his back tonight and force a game 7, Florida will be hoisting the Cup

If the oilers lose it will 100% be because of goaltending and goaltending the main factor in the series outcome overall.

Oilers have better much offence and same good Defense compared to the Panthers. 100% skinners fault if they lose.

Panthers have made every teams goalies look bad. Including Vas

Oilers have had Schwartz as their main goalie guru for the past 2 decades or something I believe. He doesn't exactly have the rep of a Melanson or Clark, but they keep bringing him back.

It's honestly nice to know that we have an absolutely stacked, dialed in team playing for our summers right now. Oilers haven't dominated shit in this series, they're lucky to even still be here.

And this time, I don't think McFlurry is healthy enough to go supernova and drag them back to Edmonton.

Take out mcdavid, Drai, Barkov and tkachuk and these two teams aren't even close. Edmonton gets stomped, panthers are better in goal, defensively and forward depth. Depth is winning the Panthers games

Panthers

15 goals have no points for tkachuk or barkov
7 goals do

Oilers
5 goals no points for mcdrai
11 Goals with Mcdrai
