I get the fact that this market basically loathes the Oilers and their fans.....probably going back to the Gretzky-Messier--Coffey years in the 80's.

But I can't help thinking that while Canuck fans are wringing their hands about wasting the best years of Quinn Hughes career in Vancouver without success--up in Edmonton they could be blowing the best years of McDavid and Draisaitl.

I'm not a big Oilers fan either. But I just think that 'generational talents' like McDavid, Crosby, Orr, Lemieux, and even Draisaitl, deserve to have their names etched on the Stanley Cup.

Deserve? Deserve's got nothing to do with it. You got to earn it.

The Oilers have had how many years to fix their goaltending? They always went cheap, be it Cam Talbot, Mike Smith, Mikko Koskinen and now Skinner.

Lots of options last summer too.

Oilers over the last 15 years have had how many first overall picks? It’s crazy how a club with this much lotto luck can’t build a Cup winner. IMO that’s actually losing.

Oilers also have not drafted or developed well. How many non first rounders since liek 2008 onwards have been regulars in the NHL that came up through their system,? is that scouting or player development?

They can go earn it, they don’t deserve shit

That’s the thing I hate most about them. They failed so hard, the league ended up changing the lottery system and that ended up f***ing us. Last thing any of us want is for that f***ed up team to be rewarded for their utter incompetence.

Yak, nuge and hall were consensus #1s. That's pretty crap luck for 3 1st overall picks. You just know if Vancouver ever wins the lottery we are getting a Yak level year.

CTE is a hell of a drug.
It’s funny because a lot of the complaints the mainstream sports media are making on behalf of the Oilers is pretty gosh darn similar to what the Canucks media were saying once upon a time.

It’d be way more funny if it wasn’t so depressing.

What the hell happened with Yak anyway, was that awful development or just a bust

**** them. FOUR number one overall picks in the 2010s.

Technically no number one overall but the Sedins were the consensus #1 & #2 picks their year. Burke just wheeled & dealed to make sure he could draft them at the spots they were taken.

Yak, not as talented as hoped and refused to learn and adjust.

Weak draft
1. Yak
2. Ryan Murphy (average player, injury prone)
3. Galchenyuk (settled into a mid tier player, 2nd lineat peak)
4. G. Reinhart (bad)

5-10 okish but 3 good Dmen (Reilly, lindholm, trouba)

11-23 was very solid. , Forberg, wilson, hertl, Teravainen, Vasilivsky, Matheson a few support Laughton, Faksa, Ceci, Maata and Jankowski.

The big issue is a bad top 4.

LOL the Flames famous pick in which Feaster said:

In 10 years, Feaster predicted, "Jankowski will be viewed as the best player in the 2012 draft," adding "We felt we could take the gamble."

Guess who convinced him? Some unemployed guy called Weisbrod.

I seem to remember being fair, didn't the Oilers brass get over ruled by the owner? Didn't they want someone else? Maybe Murphy?

Well, for sure it wasn't one of the other Dman who went onto have a good NHL career like Lindholm, Trouba, etc. Sadly, that was a terrible top 4. Just can't see a comp to how bad that 2012 class was.

Whoever decided we needed so many two day breaks between games in the SCF should be fired. Yeesh. I just want this shit to end already.

I think the longer breaks benefit the Oilers, myself. But we'll see how tomorrow night goes.
4 sets of 2 day breaks if we end up at game 7. Games 3, 4, 6, 7 would be 2 day breaks.

I would agree, as Knob needs to play the heck out of McDrai in both games if they can force a game 7.

The best part is they traded the 16th OA pick that became Matt Barzal + a second to get Reinhart.
