If Edmonton wins tonight, I am preparing to go into hibernation mode for the summer. That likely means keeping off anything hockey-related for a while.

Not going to let my disdain for that franchise and fanbase ruin my summer. I'm in Alberta so it will be impossible to fully avoid, but I will not be watching any of their cup celebration or interacting with their fans.

All this has done is reinforce that corruption in hockey is rewarded with undue chances at success.

Walk out on a bunch of bar tabs, gamble millions of dollars away and get accused of domestic abuse on multiple occasions? There is a place for you somewhere.

Get hammered at a company event and unceremoniously booted from a team for reasons that were bad enough that they never went public? There is a place for you somewhere.

Cover up chronic sexual abuse of an employee in a vulnerable position for the sake of getting your name on a trophy? There is a place for you somewhere.

Funny...they all seem to be the same place these days.
