Im finally watching that NHL Faceoff series on Amazon and holy shit whoever produced this knows f*** all about hockey. I like getting behind the scenes personal stuff from the guys but they have no idea how to highlight a playoff series or the battle that comes with it. Outside of episode 1 between Nylander and Pastrnak there's nothing actually talking about what happened in game, its just goal goal goal *series won* and none of the gruelling slog of 7 game series. The tiny features they did on Hughes didnt even talk about anything that happened in either series, none of the drama with the goalie, none of the highs of coming back late so many times, none of the physicality, just skipped straight to Edmonton game 7 and showed a couple goals. Its a joke

Well, I don’t know if any highly regarded player does a deal right to ufa. Jason Robertson of Dallas did 4 years but he spent his first year pro in the A and had a post July 1 birthday thus did not accrue his first season as a pro towards ufa. Have to be on an nhl roster for just over half a season to qualify for it. So he would have a the required 4 years of nhl exp but doesn’t turn 27 by July 1, thus his ufa was pushed back a year. And would also only have 6 accrued nhl seasons.

That goes to my point. timw33 was saying "Would be nice to see a talented 1st overall pick only accept a 3 or 4 year deal" in the context of Bedard. A 4 year deal would expire with the player reaching UFA. A 3 year bridge is a lot better but potentially creates a Tkachuk situation where the player is still under team control but can simply go to arbitration or accept his QO. We actually had a similar situation with Boeser. Remember that he could have accepted his QO (which we didn't want) and that would have put us in a difficult situation?

Of course any player with arbitration rights can simply go to arbitration every year (multiple years)/accept his QO until he becomes a UFA but no one has done that.

Never watch or listen to any documentaries, podcasts, etc about something you are highly knowledgeable about unless you're prepared to question everything you thought you'd learned from these media about things you don't know much about.

Playing top6 with Kovalenko and O'Connor with shoddy goaltending

FWIW, Kovalenko is +2 in 3 games for San Jose and O'Connor is only -5 and has been a + player pretty much his entire NHL career.

Mittelstadt is also having his worst year taking faceoffs since his rookie year and he already has 38 giveaways (his career high is 42 which he reached twice in 80-82 games). Guess he's trying to do more?

A healthy Vegas and Oilers team were bound to finish #1 and # 2 in the Pacific division.

Canucks need to win the division to set up Edmonton vs Vegas in the first round.

Minny losing Middleton out long term is a huge loss for them. Could see them slip a bit here

Parayko, Faulk, Krug, Leddy, and now Fowler.

I don’t really get it for STL. That’s a lot of cap tied up in age +30 defensemen over multiple seasons.

Fowlers not the same player he was but that’s still a good deal for the Blues

Alvin needs to phone Verbeek right now cause it looks like he’s trying to save his job with questionable trades
