4 Oilers were back. Karlsson got by Nurse but Kulak went to take him to the end boards. McDavid and Nurse went to the right side of the net, yet, the puck still got past both of them and landed on Smith's stick. On that play, Nurse is right to go to the front of the net. McDavid, needed to be a bit higher, not at the same level as Nurse, by like 6-8 feet. Would have given him a little more time to react to the pass out in front of the net.
Four of the top 30 defenders in these playoffs by EV TOI are former Canucks: OEL, Tanev, Forsling and Chatfield.

Well, they did get Necas. The main mistake was not giving the man his money.
Canes got Stankoven and a few good picks, so even they made out well.
Rantanen is a top 5 player in the league right now, though, so the Avs are definitely hurting. He is proving that he was no product of MacKinnon and Makar.

Two strong Cup contenders had enough quality assets to trade for Rantanen (one of the best winger in the game). I really don't see much a path to that for us at all. We would need to trade our top 1 and/or 2 prospects just to have a 2nd line center, and still have several gigantic holes on the wings.
