For real, is this sarcasm? English and French Canada were largely culturally separate for most of the 20th century. It's common knowledge and a central concern of 80 years or so of Canadian art, literature, and political discourse. If you go to Quebec now you will see contemporary movies, celebrities, and other artifacts of popular culture that are basically not mentioned or publicized outside of the province.
