They are a competitor, so it is easy to laugh at them, and their misery.... yet it's also completely screwed up. I mean... they mess up a NTC deal, and lose a first round pick, while Chicago covers up a Sexual Assault scandal, and get rewarded with a generational player. It really shows where the priorities of the NHL are, and that they really don't give a damn about any of this stuff.

Can someone post the Coles Notes version of what the Sens did wrong?

When the Sens dealt Dadanov to Vegas during a summer, they did not inform them that he had a NTC. That same year, Vegas had a deal lined up with Anaheim to send him there at the deadline to clear cap. When they went to put the trade through, Dadanov informed them that Anaheim was on his no trade list. Vegas basically had no clue he had a NTC and thought he originally forgot to submit it in the summer (which has happened before).

Vegas took a big hit in reputation for this, because people made it seem like it was their fault and they were trying to trade a player to a team that was on their NTC. They complained to the league about it and here we are.

Vegas asked for Dadonovs contract details during trade talks and Ottawa told Vegas he didn't have a NTC. So the trade went through. Vegas then flipped him to Anaheim for cap relief but Dadonov used his NTC to stop the trade to Anaheim. He had a limited NTC that had Anaheim on his NTC.

Ottawa is saying Dadonov submitted his limited NTC list late, which would nullify it. But Dadonov and his agent had proof they submitted and in time.

Got it, thanks.

Essentially the Sens got fined because the League failed to have a secure centralized registry for player contracts and contract clauses

So the Pinto thing seems to be that he had a buddy login to his account and place a bet for him, what he bet on was not at all the issue. Seems like nothing to me or am I missing something?

I'm just not buying that one.. I mean yes, they should have, in hindsight, the NHL, had a central registry, and do now I believe, but they had a process in place for verifying trade details, the trade call, and Ottawa screwed it up. That's their fault, nobody else's.

Now they've dummy Dorian-proofed the process.

Chia to Ottawa after Dorion is absolute perfection.
I'm 60-40.... 60 ha ha & 40 he can be good.

Oilers old guard had a lot of play when he was in Edmonton so dunno how to judge yet. Chiarelli also has old ties in Ottawa back in the days when Melnyk did a lot of annoying things in the background (not a surprise  ) and the reason why he laughed a lot when senators did a bad and let Chara go and he was hired for the bruins.

sounds like Vegas screwed the pooch on doing their due diligence unless the Sen's lied about the NTC. Classic case of buyer beware.........
