I suppose a lot of fans don't have the extra money to spend and stay home and watch. Outside of Toronto non-contending teams will feel the pinch.
Yup, no doubt. Especially the way the economy is these days and people prioritizing to what they need than some form of (expensive) entertainment.

Personally speaking, not only is it easier and better to watch a game at home, it's also far less expensive. If I spent hundreds of dollars on a dud of a game like Monday against Chicago, I'd be pissed and feel like I'd have been better off just throwing my money to burn in a fireplace.

3 years ago had a Chef come and cater for 7 people and it was less than $500.00. Included food and dessert.

I am sure it would be a couple hundred more today, but probably cheaper to do that and watch the game than take 3 to SBA.

I took 3 others Saturday. I only paid tickets and parking
Tickets $400
Dinner $200
3 rounds $210
Bar after $100
Parking $14

It’s nice to get out of the house once in a while though.

Ottawa looks really good so far.
No doubt they can beat teams like Washington, but they will continue to get smoked by the best teams in the conference (Toronto, Carolina, Jersey, etc.). They might be a wildcard team this year, but if they are it will a quick one and done. They are still a couple of years away from being legitimate, but it's definitely closer. They have hit gold on their high draft picks.

Norris is back and already scored 2 goals, they are not going to be an easy win anymore.

Atlantic is going to be a blood bath, some really good teams in our division
I think the funny thing is that for all of the talk about these other teams, I bet Boston still ends up being the second seed in the division behind Toronto. Ottawa and Detroit may battle for third. Tampa is at best a wild card team, and I'm not sure Florida will even make the playoffs given their injuries.

Send and Wings may actually be half decent this year. Ottawa getting Norris back is a huge boost and between Forsberg and Korpi might actually have some decent goaltending. DeBrincat looks good for Detroit so far.

I went to the game on Monday, but the ticket was free courtesy of one of my best friends from grade school who took me out as a birthday gift. We got buzzed and made a good time of it, and all I paid for was a couple of beers and even then that ran me $40 lol. Definitely would've been pissed to pay for a full ticket and food on a game like that, felt bad for my buddy but reassured him that I still had a blast and the company was better than anything else.

In the end it looks like the Sens made out really well in the Karlsson trade.

Both Norris and Stutzle are a big win as far as I am concerned

Just because the Leafs didn't show up didn't mean you didn't have to.

Always great to have a terrific guest, just as rewarding as being a terrific host.

Glad you enjoyed everything around the game.

Capitals are probably a bottom 5 team this year. Just so many old dudes that look finally cooked. Ovie going shotless in b2b games.

I'm sure Bedard will start producing, but no I wasn't overly impressed in his game against the Leafs.

He's playing like a good prospect, but until they have a trophy for Expected ROTY he'll have to do better.

That's a team that should have sold high on Tom Wilson, sold a few high priced older players, and kick started some form of retool/rebuild.

They are going to regret it a bit... but they really don't have any anchors or issues long-term, so their transition should be feasible without much of a tear down if they keep losing.

The capitals are doing everything they can to help Ovie break the goal record. They won’t rebuild till they ovie breaks the record.

I have no doubt Ovi will start to roll a bit but if the team is weak that will hurt him.

Wonder if this is the year Ovi‘s offensive game finally starts to drop. He’s never scored less than 30 (over a full season), but that could change this year.
