It's not just the contract.

They switched first rounders this year(from #11 to #32), gave up Boquvist and next years first round pick as well.
Add that contract and it's total insanity.

BTW: Jake Bean got traded for a 2nd round pick to Columbus.

The Pacific Division won the NHL draft imo. Even Arizona who originally didn't even have a pick and they hit it out of the park with Guenther.

Some of the other divisions had some big reaches. What is Chicago and Dallas doing ?

Judging by how quiet it has been since Wednesday evening on our trade front.....I wouldn't hold my breath. I'm really, really shocked that we have acquired essentially nothing other than a fourth rounder next year. It's still early, but man.....Francis will never be confused with an aggressive GM.

Was hoping he learned a lesson from his Carolina stint.

I see the logic in what you're saying, but would you not agree that 1 deal since the expansion draft through round two of the actual draft is a bit conservative given the assets that were/are available?
