We all know that our favorite is and always will be the Miracle at Molson.
Personally it’s the Shock at the Rock. They were only down by 1 goal, but the timing of it was unmatched. They couldn’t score the whole third period, then the pitkanen-jokinen pipeline strikes with just over a minute left to tie it. ~50 seconds after that my boy Chad LaRose makes a great play along to boards to get the puck to staal who is able to break down the wing and rip one past fatso to win the thing in regulation. Victory straight from the jaws of defeat.

It helps that that series was absolutely insane. We had 2 overtime games, a literal last second goal from jokinen in game 4, and game 5 might be the finest goaltenders duel I’ve had the privilege of watching. 86 combined shots and 1 goal. Highly underrated series.

I haven't followed at all. What's the deal?
Thought concussion again but looks like it isn’t and he will be able to play again.

Another W for Rags last night, albeit against a depleted Canuck side. Metro top 4 is really strong this year (might even get 5 in the playoffs). Will be a bloodbath to get out of the division this year.

I absolutely remember where I was in my basement for the Shock at the Rock.

But for me it's always going to be Game 2 against New Jersey in 2006. Yeah we ended up winning in 5. But Game 1 was us breaking a 15 game winning streak by NJD. That was supposed to be a series and only in hindsight is it the boring one of that run. Helps that it was at home and many on these boards (myself included) got to witness it. Shame on those in the arena who missed our tying goal, perhaps that's why it doesn't get talked about in the same way or get a fun nickname.

Yeah, early goings look like the Metro might be the most competitive top 3 seeds of any division. I thought for sure it'd be us jockeying with Jersey and the Rangers, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Caps in the mix. They look legitimately good, and it's starting to be a long enough stretch of games where you can't say it's fluky.

The top 4 Metro teams have a goal differential of +28, +27, +17, and +20. That's definitely the best if you compare top halves of other conferences. It also is a better "sustainable" metric, IMO, than just points. It looks like we have 4 legitimately good teams, and 4 legitimately mediocre teams.

I think the most important comeback game for me has to be miracle at Moulson. The 3 goal comeback in the 3rd against Theodore changed the narrative of the series to that point. Hart-contending, Vezina-contending goalie suddenly had holes. We carried that mojo all the way to game 5 of the finals, putting Carolina on the map.

The 05-06 team obviously had a more important season overall, but the comebacks weren't as impressive in the playoff run, even if the team itself was significantly better.

Yeah, that one was incredible. After NJ scored, a bunch of fans headed for the exit. The guy in front of me kept screaming "Where are you going!" to everyone. And then when Staal scores and the horn starts blaring, it was like a bunch of ants scurrying to their seats.

On the way out of the game, I asked the doorman, who I saw all the time and was named Jerry about it and he said they just opened the door and let everyone pour back in when the goal horn went off.

It was crazy.

Agreed. I was in college and a devils fan and I were shouting at each other down the hall all series. After a couple weeks of that, was very happy to come out on top, especially with that ending.

Let's enjoy again

I've always found it incredible how Pitkanen and Jokinen tried to do it first without succeeding and then did the exact same thing again and succeeded.

What's funny about that is that Forslund and Tripp both commented about Seidenburg, when it was Gleason. Forslund even said "Gleason" just seconds earlier.

Imagine if Mike had made that same mistake.

I remember Shock at the Rock. I kept thinking just tie it up, little did I know Eric Staal had other ideas. That whole series was nuts, best thing was the next round with Boston was probably better. 2009 was fun, well not the ECFs but the Devils/Bruins series was good Hockey for even neutral observers.

Miracle at Molson was the moment I knew that team was going to the Finals. The DPE you rarely saw 4 unanswered goals, let alone 3 in one period.

That happened with the Buffalo Bills in 1993 vs the Oilers. People were leaving and heard what was going on via radio and came back.

Trends Show Overtime Games Ending Before Shootout: 77.8% of games past regulation have been decided in 3-on-3 overtime, the highest rate ever at this stage of a season (ahead of 71.9% in 2022-23) and +11% relative to the highest end-of-season rate in history (69.9% in 2023-24). There have only been 14 shootouts in 2024-25, the fewest through 314 games since the tiebreaker was introduced in 2005-06 (next closest: 18 in 2022-23).
