So with Ovi and Matthews both on IR currently, who is the best goal scorer in the league right now currently on an active roster?

The Sens are a perfect case of most rebuilds that don't work out.

It's beyond comical how many in the media have embarrassingly hyped them up prior to the last couple preseason only for them to fall flat.

Their fans can be forgiven a tad because fans are always allowed to be irrational homers (it comes with the territory)

But the biggest fallacy for all rebuilding team is the belief that they will always take the next step forward when in reality stagnating and even regression is just as common if not more so.
When it comes to rebuild or retool or whatever you like to call it.
It is not just ONE player even if that is McD. Having someone like McD will help with excitement, fans….might even attract good players. But at the end is about drafting, scouting players in other NHL organizations and developing.
Coaching is part of the development.

Looking at Sens and Sabres. They have the talents but just lack the discipline to take the next step-meaningful games in late season.

The QC
I have no doubt they are trying. They are just a team that is aging out of being a dynasty. People will be talking about Tampa the same way in a couple of seasons.
Exactly, we've seen it trending now with WSH, PIT, BOS and soon TB. Bit different how each team got there, but it is a similar path.

We'll be there sooner than we'd all like, the difference right now is those teams all got-it-done. We still have time.

Specifically to PIT, re-signing the aging stars was always going to go this way. Sid had a season for the ages last year and they still missed... I don't know what they were expecting there.

Crosby wanted Malkin, Letang and Sullivan to return.

Well, he got the whole band back.
They are the least of Pittsburghs worries. The big problem is the team Dubas assembled around them. Among the worst rosters I've ever seen. Nedeljkovic for 2.5, Jarry for 5.3, Hayes for 3.5, Karlsson for 10, Glass for 2.5, Acciari for 2, Graves for 4.5, Bunting for 4.5.

Incredibly bad.

Whoa, Kyle Dubas doesn't make mistakes!

I know this because he's always had a just small enough target to deflect them on.

Zero lessons have been or will be learned.

The best of Brock U didn't come through? You don't say. Maybe he needs a new shtick and fake pair of glasses before going to conning his next sports team.

Amazing stuff. Dubas is a legend.
