I would absolutely want the 4 on 3 over the penalty shot in OT. Annnnd it was saved. Lame.

Then Vegas wins because two Blues players were f***ing idiots behind their own net.

So Colorado will either face Winnipeg, or Vegas?

Top team gets second wild card team, right?

So if Dallas wins the division, we play Winnipeg, If Colorado wins we get Vegas.

We're totally facing Vegas.

Canucks losing tonight too.

Could be. Dallas has a light schedule, so they still have a good shot at the division.

With the way the Avs have dominated on home-ice, I think getting 1st and facing Vegas is probably better than finishing second.

It would be a huge mistake to underestimate the current cup champs.

The team they are icing now is far from the team that we'll face in round 1. They are missing 4 huge pieces.

I don't care who the Avs have to play in the West at this point. Everyone looks good to me and anyone seems like they could win a round. Vegas kinda seems like the weakest team to be honest.

While I agree, I just think their goaltending this year has been incredibly pedestrian and isn't at the level it was last year.

I’m not underestimating anyone. Everybody is tough in the West.

All that hard work by Vegas to circumvent the cap and battle to get into the playoffs… and they get Colorado in the 1st round? I’m not sure they’re too excited about that.

It’ll be a battle if it happens.

Vegas is tied with LA in points although LA has a game in hand, but it's not outside the realm of possibility of LA dropping into the WC spot.

EDIT: NVM, NHL.com hadn't yet updated the standings for tonight's LA win when I looked at this, so they are 2 points ahead.

While any team can beat us (as seen last year), I have preferences.

The biggest threats, in order:

1- Vegas: By far the worst style against us. When they play that 3-guys-on-the-puck-at-all-time strategy the Avs' game plan completely fall apart and Bednar has been unable to adjust to that style so far. If there's a team to take advantage of our smaller defense it's them. They also have tons of playoff experience, I'd rather not face Vegas at all.

2- Stars: They have depth too and also play a style that could cause problems.

3- Jets: They have a goalie that can steal a series.

4- Preds: Weakest link in the west. If they beat us we weren't winning the cup anyway.

Avs are due to strategically slump a little bit at the end to avoid the Presidents Trophy or WC1 spot. They aren't going to enter the playoffs on a 20 game winning streak. Vancouver or Edmonton is getting that spot and those two teams are who Vegas wants to face anyways.
