As much as I would love to beat them, I would rather not play a team with a 15 million dollar cap advantage on us.

We want the cup! Nothing stands between us and Lord Stanley, NOTHING! Bring on Vegas, time to find out who is the top dog in the west.

Liiga playoffs started yesterday (well, the wild card round was last week but quarter finals started today), and already there are interesting controversies brewing. A dirty play by ex-NHL player Leo Komarov (cross-checking an opponent that was down on the ice), and here's the more interesting one:

So Tappara vs TPS. A Tappara player is hitting TPS player Jimi Suomi (Jimmy Finland, what a great name!) against the boards. At the same time, the mascot of Tappara hits the glass from the other side, which causes the boards not to give in as they normally do. Jimi Suomi was injured on the play, and didn't play again in the match.

Imagine if an NHL super star would be injured on a play like this? Could see Gritty pulling a stunt like this. Obviously it wasn't anything intentional, just a stupid heat of the moment action by the mascot, but what an unfortunate incident.

This torts thing is crazy to me. He’s probably not handled it the best, but lost in all of this is Couts has been playing at a very clear non NHL level for the last like 15-20 games.

Very interesting situation. Never saw this before, but if some NHL fans see this video, I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen in NHL too. You can cause way more pain to player who is being sandwiched like this.

Tappara should get some fine for this. It's unacceptable.

It's just super weird. Why not address it? Why keep avoiding the clear elephant in the room?

To me this seems like Torts is trying to piss Couterier off so much that he demands a trade.

Having no other details other than Couts was healthy scratched, Torts being Torts towards the media, and now there's this drama, is it possible he may want to be fired?

Not sure where to put this so here it is...

Anybody else having issues loading the NHL/Scores page on laptop/desktop? The page loads but the little NHL square with the blue progress wheel stays up all the time. The info gets updated in the background but that square just doesn't want to go away. No issue with any of the other pages on the NHL site...just the Scores page.

I have tried deleting cookies and data from my browser and I still have the same issue. I am using Firefox. The page loads properly on Chrome.

Makes the decision to pin the C on him all the more curious. Apparently Torts pushed for it too after saying at the beginning of the year he wasn't going to pick a captain.

He also put an A on Scott Laughton, like, days before the trade deadline and rumors running rampant that he was going to be dealt. Would've been really weird for him to get that and then pack his bags a few games later.

As I maintain, most sports organziations of all levels try to avoid drama as best they can (and usually those actions result in more drama) but nope, not the Flyers. *bugle playing* CHARRRRRGE!!!!

Like I said I don’t think he’s handling the situation well and doing this right after naming him captain is pretty shitty. But Couts does not give the team a chance to win right now so I get why he’s sitting him for that reason.

the most puzzling part of Torts/Couts is the Flyers have to this point completely over achieved and they're creating this completely unnecessary distraction at the worst time in the season.

MacK lost the Hart and Ross with his last two 1 points performances. Kucherov will end up with a double digit lead in points by the time it's all said and done.
Ross maybe but not the Hart. Unless Matthews scores 75 goals, Mack will win the Hart regardless what Kucherov does. Also I’m glad Avs win games without Nate scoring 4 points a game. That means we have depth now
