Yeah the Wild might be in for a rough couple years. Can't imagine Kaprizov being keen on sticking around on a sinking ship.

They really should do a full rebuild because they don't have much.

Oh, and they should send us JEE as part of that rebuild
They've been in perpetual "should rebuild" mode for their entire existence, except for maybe 2-3 years lol

Hoping the Oilers win a couple games, just to get their hopes up, only to be crushed again.

They aren't making the playoffs regardless

Best outcome for the season for the Oilers is to finish 1-2 spots out of the playoffs so they don't get a high pick in the next draft so I am OK with them winning some games.

I still think the Oilers make playoffs fairly comfortably honestly. WC2 in the West right now is Seattle at 8-9-5 lol. Oilers are only 5 points back of that mark.

The Oilers are still behind the Ducks and won't pass them for at least another two games. Not to mention the Wild are a point behind the Oilers with a game in hand. What the hell is going on in the West?

Vegas on Tuesday will be an interesting game for the Oilers.

We'll see if the corner truly has been turned based on slapping the Capitals and Ducks around in back to back games, or if they'll fall back down to earth again with poor goaltending.

Vegas can't score right now so it might be a perfect storm for the Oilers given McDavid is going nuts the last few games and in all likelihood will lead the league in points in 2 weeks lol.

Wildcard teams can only afford to lose 30-34 games in any given season. The Oilers have 12 losses, and 62 games left to play. They can only afford to lose 18-22 of those 62 games.

It ain't happening

They‘re 5pts out of a playoff spot right now. Them getting a wildcard and a 78pt pace is currently the pace for the last wild card spot. Edmonton could easily beat that.

Last season WC2 needed 95 points. This season it's looking as if it will be less than that, which is what the Oilers have going for them.

To get to 90 points the Oilers need to play .604 hockey the rest of the way. Given how they played the last three seasons that SHOULD be doable for them, then again... they haven't looked all that capable this season, McDavid is playing hurt despite his recent scoring surge, and goaltending is still a nightmare.

They SHOULD be a lock for the playoffs. However, the 23-24 Oilers are anything but a lock to make it based on their first 20 games.

I‘m sure the pts to make it in via wild card will go up from 78. But the west is god awful this year, the oilers have been a literal dumpster fire and are still only a couple games out of a playoff spot. If they get back to a level they’ve consistently played at they’ll easily pass teams like seattle, Arizona and Nashville.

Sure, but I'm not buying that stock yet. Their next games are vs Vegas, @ Winnipeg, vs Carolina. Those are pretty good measuring sticks for them.
