Florida needs to convert Hornqvist's salary and another forward into an NHL level defenseman and cap compliance. And they don't have a 1st rounder for the next 3 seasons. They may need to deal away a high value asset off their roster to make it happen. And that isn't secondary scoring like Verhaeghe or Duclair.

Duclair will be on LTIR for likely the whole season. Their cap situation isn't quite as dire as many think.

So who is in on Toews?

He wants out.

What and where makes sense?

He owed 2.9 cash for this year, retention for the Hawks shouldn't be an issue.

So while 5mm cap hit is probably too much for 34 year old Toews, the cash is low.

Just throwing out but would someone and would he be interested in an extension at an appropriate rate?

He's probably a trade deadline candidate, if he has a bit of a rebound season. By the trade deadline, a 50% retained cap hit, probably is something many teams can afford. Even if it requires double retention, the cost at the deadline, should be greatly reduced.

Yeah, kicking the can down the road.

His return is around December I ready somewhere, but probably just speculation. If really bad could be next calendar year.

Injuries can happen.

Panthers are still over the cap with their recent trade but a player for $3 mil goes on LTIR they must have been counting on this when they made that trade,

It was a joke post and people in twitter took it too seriously lol. Girl was saying he needs to be saved from Edmonton and Oilers fan being Oilers fan went crazy on her hahah
She’s not wrong, he doesn’t look very good there

Sometimes the best and smartest move a team can do is to do nothing.

This Florida trade was the best off season happening for the Leafs.

While that can be true but a gm from time to time needs to be proactive in asset management. Otherwise just give him the scout role

We lost Jvr, Hyman,Anderson, Gardiner, bozak who all at one point was integral part of this team for nothing. So called our deadline acquisition players

Florida got younger, retained a younger asset who still has tons of upside.

Fine line between standing pat and being risk averse.

It's not like gave away two pending fa for free. They have a fine young player in Lindell. He needs better opportunities. He'll backfill some

They can easily flip him at the deadline for prospect and a high draft pick like a 2nd round
I was thinking thats the plan, probably at 50%.

Ducks get assets for cash, Klingberg gets to hop on a cup run. Not a bad deal.

If Duclair missing the season is seen as a potential positive for Florida, it just goes to show how utterly screwed they probably are. Subtract Huberdeau, Duclair, Marchment, Weegar, Giroux and that's 90 goals deleted from their offense which they need to replace.

Our UFA's weren't even close to approaching Huberdeau's quality as a player. Plus the downside to their deal is they just gave away the last affordable year of Hubie and Weegar, which could have allowed them to go all in again. Now they're just a very different team and churning assets like Vegas.

The point isn't if they are good or not. If they are star or not. It's that they hVe decided they can't afford him at certain price. So they decided to move forward while retening asset

They got a player that's good for future and now.. it's not like they traded him for draft picks

Calgary did extremely well for jettisoning an expiring player.

For 1 year of 104 point Tkachuk:

1 Year of 115 point Huberdeau
1 Year of Weeger
A prospect
1 first round pick, of course lottery protected. Be extremely funny if it was a lottery pick. A lose lose scenario.

Adidas will not return as the NHL's official supplier of uniforms and apparel when their agreement expires after the 2023-24 season, the NHL confirmed to ESPN on Thursday.

Sources told ESPN that Adidas, which has two years remaining on its seven-year deal, was the catalyst in not seeking to renew with the NHL. The league has started to make other apparel companies aware that the rights are back in play.

"The NHL and Adidas look forward to continuing to work closely together over the next two years and to a smooth transition to the new authentic NHL uniform supplier, which will be announced by the NHL at the appropriate time," the NHL said in a statement.

The seven-year deal deal began in the 2017-18 season after Adidas replaced Reebok, which had been the NHL's uniform supplier since the 2005-06 season. Adidas also partnered with the NHL and the NHLPA to make jerseys for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

At the time of that deal, sources said Adidas was paying at least double the $35 million annually that Reebok had been paying for the rights.

The NHL and Adidas partnership featured some innovative moments, such as the memorable Team North America jerseys at the World Cup and a line of NHL "Reverse Retro" jerseys, a streetwear-influenced remix of classic NHL sweaters and logos that teams wore during the 2020-21 season.

Adidas also emphasized promotion of individual players, as stars like Connor McDavid signed deals to promote the brand. Sources told ESPN that players with expiring endorsement deals have been told by Adidas that those deals would not be renewed, which was a harbinger that the company was heading for a split with the NHL.

The NHL is also in a long-term deal with Fanatics, a partner since 2005. Fanatics has been the official manufacturer of a broad range of NHL apparel and headwear, including replica jerseys, since the 2017-18 season. It runs the NHL's e-commerce retail site and operates on-site retail at numerous NHL events.
