McDavid had 79 assists last season. The other guy 55. McDavid is at 83 assists this year. The other guy is at 69. I am sorry, it is not even remotely close. They play on the same team....and together a lot of the time.

A $1 million cap increase sounds so pathetic for a major league sports league. League wide, across 32x cities in North America, the entire NHL can afford to invest an additional $32 million total. For reference, in the NBA, James Harden himself makes $33 million, ranking 33rd in individual salaries.

Been several years since I had NHL Center/Centre Ice, but perhaps it is just Boston announcers who are ummm ahhh maybe The Last of Us is actually happening in the US? Fungus brain creep? Used to be decent commentators, Bruins flat earth? Maybe it is the last 6 years or so that it has turned?

Talking about Jack Edwards? Yeah he and that broadcast crew are on another level of homer-ism and he personally is going the way of Don Cherry in terms of off the collar commentary.
yeah Nesn announcers are so bad, and mostly all US broadcasters with the likes of Bally sports, AT&T, there are a few that are still good, but that list is dwindling quickly. they have there Homer announcers, unlike the leafs where if you want the homer crew, you need to listen to TSN 1050 on the radio....

The NHL is not going to pass over studs, stars, and popular names like Draisaitl, Stutzle, Hischier, Fiala, Kopitar, Zuccarello, Josi, etc., but they also have no business or interest expanding to Olympic or IIHF sized tournaments.
6-8 teams, no more. Smaller countries can group together for representation. And if Russia isn't going to represent themselves (for clear reasons), a Team Europe can take on a couple of the Panarins who are willing to play without giving the Russia Federation the satisfaction.
I'd also argue it wasn't a failed experiment at all.
While a little gimmicky, Team NA was pretty fun to watch and their merch sold like mad, and both teams were competitive (Team Europe finishing second)
