I realize that, but he's been injured for much of the season, so they've been playing without that asset. Even when he's been playing he hasn't been up to speed, going through what Mikheyev did with the Leafs. Along with the broken rib(s).

So yes, all teams have injuries and when those injured players come back it is a boost.

Oilers improved by Ekholm and Kane being added to their line-up.

Again, Leafs added O'Rielly but he's invisible ... :sarcasm:
It is just kind of a disingenuous way to act like a team is "adding" the Leafs have been one of the most impacted teams in the entire league by injuries all season. It is just a thing good teams deal with.

Yes, definitely if Reilly plays like he's capable, that would be like adding to the team.

Add ;) to that, Matthews is perhaps finally getting to 100%. He shouldn't be tied for 15th. in goal scoring along with Nylander.

But as far as Leafs injuries, some of that is pfff seriously, who cares if Robertson, Mete, Dahlstrom are on IR/LTIR. And O'Rielly we hardly knew him. Brodie missing games, but he's a middle guy. Liljegren who can't even get into the line-up with Holl there. Muzzin was a write-off end of last year.

Yes, they've had injuries, but really Matthews and Rielly might be the 2 biggest impacts.

Goalies, most how many expected Murray to actually play as many as he's had? For some he's just a bonus player.

Leafs top 4 team in the league with top 6 defense?

If Matthews and Rielly had been 100%, would those other injuries actually mattered? Bruins have had injuries.

Anyway, Leafs with the Oilers powerplay? Maybe they are competing with the Bruins.

I think this is obvious, but we gotta stay out of the box against Tampa:

We had stretches earlier in the season where the better part of our entire defense was injured all at the same time. I also would adjust your last sentence. The Leafs with the opportunities the Oilers get on the powerplay might be competing with the Bruins. Key difference.

We 'missed' the playoffs in 2020 didn't we? Not that it really matters but how does that year officially go in the books?

The entire bubble tournament was counted as playoff games, including the qualification round, and the round robin games for the top seeds.
Some people like to say the qualification round doesn't qualify as 'playoffs'.

I think the logic is that they can avoid the "first round loss seven years in a row", by mixing in a "didn't make the playoffs". I don't know that that is an improvement.

Any way you look at it, it's still 19 years since we won a round.

I don't think it matters either way, was just curious how it officially went in the record books.

You do realize that Matthews hit 60 goals in the same number of games as McDavid last season right? And Matthews scored way more at 5v5. Matthews career goals per game is also higher.
You do realize mcdavid's is not known for goal scoring and still scored 60 in 1 less game, not same amount lol but what does it even matter?? Mcdavid is by far the best player in the world and creates goals for everyone.

If you read the message I was replying to, the guy was saying McDavid is 'way better at scoring goals than Matthews' which is just wrong.

Edit: go back to your shithole forum and city

So do the Leafs poach their PP coach?
Or is it that McDavid is generational, and Leafs have no one close?

Leafs have the 2nd ranked PP% in the NHL behind the Oilers (although far behind) and the Oilers get far more PPs than the Leafs.

McDavid is in another league from anyone else this year too though.

The Oilers with McDavid on the PP:

TOI: 296:32
Goals scored/60: 16.6

Without McDavid:

TOI: 66:49
Goals scored/60: 1.8

Could be wrong but I'm guessing it's not their PP coach that is responsible for their success.

McDavid does have to get off the ice for 20 seconds every PP right?

Kind of like the Leafs: Matthews, marner, Tavares, Nylander and a body for 1 minute 30 seconds ... every PP.

I would like to know what’s Oilers PP coach do.

It will be something like having a coffee in hand in the morning, and write. 1. Give McD the puck 2. Be ready for McD pass. Then go home and sleep.

Far behind is right, we're 7% points behind the Oilers (32.7% vs 25.7%). For context we're 6.7% above 25th place Seattle (19.0%)

McDavid and Draisaitl
Matthews and marner

Yeah, Leafs coach has to drink his coffee before leaving.

Tavares actually, is the PP points leader for Leafs.

The differentials with our top guys and most other teams top PP teams guys too are more in the range of 12gf/60 to 5gf/60.

McDavid is just an animal out there this season after losing all the relevant best player awards

"Connor, go out there and do your thing."

Very responsible for their success. Easy peasy. :)
