Well I guess I should have been specific and included the Leafs in the list.
But hey, according to pt% the Pens are ahead of the Isles, so now the Broons face the Isles.
Florida lost, so we are 3 points away from clinching a playoff spot
Tampa lost so we are 12 points away from clinching home ice.

Maybe, that is an issue the Leafs have to address.
Such a meh team the Leafs are.
Bunting is so out of place the officials can't help but identify him as an embellishment.
Leafs just fight through hooks, and hacks, and trips.
There is no win with honour in the NHL.

Jets and Oilers lose is a minor compensation for my Leafs loss, but I'll take it. Not impossible for the Jets to fall out of PO contention. I'll take Flames over Jets any day.
Bergeron and Krejci are playing for a total of 8m, not 3.5m, and they're cheaper because they're in their late 30s.
Bergeron 2.5 million this yr
Krejci 1 million this yr
They did this to win a cup this yr
The rest is differed to next yr.
It's all in for the cup this yr.
Next yr Boston will be in cap hell.
As far a Bergeron iam sure he could have got 6 million for 3 yrs on the open market

Bergeron and Krejci are not playing for 3.5m though. They're playing for 8m, and will make that much this season. Some of the cap implications just defer to next year. It wasn't so much a culture-driven sacrifice as it was Boston just being able to play games with the cap because they are uniquely on 35+ contracts and Boston is on their last breath and don't care about next year. Most teams, including the Leafs, aren't in that very specific position to be able to do that. It's weird to try and hold that against a team and their culture, especially when that culture has actually been able to bring in a bunch of older veterans with connections to Toronto for league minimum.

They are not. They are getting paid like 8 million for this year and are deferring payment for a year.
They are still hoping to compete next year right? That’s money they can’t use to sign Orlov bertuzzi etc.

I don't think they're doing even that. Pretty sure they still get paid this year. It's just the cap charge that gets deferred.

Yes, we should all agree that is what is happening.
Next season the Cap will be reduced by the rest of this year's compensation.
I wonder if they'll return in another defer-it-forward, or will they actually pull a Giordano?

They aren’t getting a discount. They are deferring payment. Next year they are starting with a -4.5 million cap hit

Yes, anyone can have a signing bonus.
And all 35+ one-year contracts can sign a performance bonus.
Why would it make sense for Krejci to be able to have one but not Bergeron?
