Imagine Buffalo getting Kane for the TDL
They got a lot cap and can actually take on his entire contract so Kanes price would be a bargain since no cap retention at all. They got 4 picks in the top 64, prospects and current young NHL players atm. Seems like the perfect trade partner for Chicago and with it being Kanes hometown it makes it even better for all involved.

If they were smart they'd sell some guys, use the summer to do a needed retool. Use whatever picks or prospects they get to buy some "win now" players at the draft since they don't seem to be open to doing a draft rebuild

That seems to be the smart play and because of Sorokin, they got a chance to still squeak in and even do some dmg too with Barzal back by then.

I think Sabres might just be the team to get Kane

Not paying a big price for a rental. Sabres are not ready to take a run at the Cup and sending assets while it might help get to the playoffs he is not enough to take such a young inexperienced team deep into the playoffs. I doubt Kane would waive to go to buffalo anyway.

That would be a ballsy move. :thumbu:

Fun idea. Though would Kane willing go to the Sabres if a more competitive team showed interest?
Let’s assume Kane won’t mind going.
I think the question is would Sabres do it bc they will most likely able to resign Kane. Knowing full well they are the front runner to sign Kane in the summer.

Also important to note that Mayfield, while a big minute eating defenseman, has underperformed heavily this year. Even at the highest points of his career, he has mostly just been on par with Holl.

It may be due to playing with Romanov, but Romanov has at least performed admirably with Dobson and has performed extremely well on the PK. Mayfield has been average at best on the PK and has struggled away from Romanov as much as he did with him (albeit mostly with a 6/7 caliber defenseman in Aho).

Obviously trading Mayfield hurts their chances, but he is not going to be a difference-maker either. The Manson-level return they get back for him would help them a lot now and in the future, and it gives Bolduc a legit chance in their lineup. Putting Aho in the higher role on his off-side is far from ideal, but it is not like their defense can get much worse either... It is already bottom 5 in terms of expectation and is only rated highly overall due to Sorokin/Varlamov.

And of course Varlamov is their backup, but I have a feeling that unless they get a no-brainer offer (i.e. LA offers up something similar to what they can get for Mayfield), they'll keep him to satisfy Sorokin... And he may re-sign for a reasonable price. Islanders don't have a prospect coming up so they'd likely be interested in keeping Varlamov around until someone figures it out. Skarek and Lennox are their main goalie prospects and neither have been overly impressive despite being 3rd round picks.

Kadri's aberation of assists from last year is last year.
On pace for about 60 points, his career average.

Huberdeau having a very poor season.

Thachuk OTOH on pace for a career year in points and POS penalties.

Flames fighting for a wild card spot.

Leafs could use a POS like one of the Tkachuks ...

Amen to that. It's been a long time need.

Buffalo 3 points back with 5 games in hand and Detroit 3 points back with 4 in hand.

At least the WC race should be exciting.

I am trying to figure out who has a realistic chance of upsetting Bos, or at the very least taking the series to 7.

Maybe a second May Day special?
I could see Buffalo upsetting Boston

And I'd speculate they don't have anything off the tables if it was possible.

Perhaps 2 untouchables marner and Nylander ... most would have Matthews at the top, but I'm not sure he's the guy. I just don't see enough screw you in him. And I think some unemotional players hide it, but I don't think he's hiding it. But yeah, I could go with marner, Matthews, Nylander as untouchables, with every prospect and player being fair game.

Note: I am not saying their value is in that order, Matthews would definitely return the most in a trade, then marner, then Nylander.

The 26-year-old winger scored the first two goals of the game for the Bruins and turned down a hat trick to allow Krejci to celebrate his career milestone with a goal.

“That was my only goal,” Pastrnak said after the win. “I was looking for him all game.”

Love to see Bruins have to sign Pastrnak after he wins the Rocket.

They had him on one of the best team-friendly contracts in the league. He can get anywhere between 11-14 now..

Frankly even if got 15, compare it to Tavares @ 11 and its looking good.

I'm worried if he wins the second Rocket and gets $$$, he'll become starting point for Matthews negotiations as comparable.
