Anybody else seen this calgary flames game start no? This is exactly the type of drive certain teams have when they want to KILL the other team. The flames did the rangers twice already during the first minute of the game. They totally Rolling over them and layiNG TRUMP HUUUUGE BODYCHECKS ON EM. THIS IS HOCKEY AT ITS BEST.

Same. He's capable of just flipping a switch in elimination games and becoming nearly unbeatable. Especially if the refs are planning to take our goals away after making extremely weak calls again
He did it to us last year, game 6 third period came and he locked it down. We scored 1 goal in the next 5 periods and he robbed us a ton in OT

Well we scored 2, but like you said the refs decided to call the first pick of the season lmao

They are 3-1-2 since that trade, but they lost to Vancouver, Montreal, and Ottawa after failing to hold leads.
Buffalo 3 points back with 5 games in hand and Detroit 3 points back with 4 in hand.

At least the WC race should be exciting.

I am trying to figure out who has a realistic chance of upsetting Bos, or at the very least taking the series to 7.

Maybe a second May Day special?

They finished 8, 6 and 6 last 3 in GAA
7th, 4th and 9th in GAx

This season, they are 13 th in gaa and 19th in GAx...

I think it has to be a team with goaltending. So, unless someone gets Koorpisalo or maybe Vejmelka, that eliminates DET, FLA, and BUF. Don't really trust Jarry to be good either.

Hate to say it, but it's probably NYI. I'm not sure if they'll get in, though

And couldn't finish them off, got outplayed for most of the rest of the game, and only won because Fox took a bad penalty in OT.

Not true. Calgary out shot the oppponent. Was much tougher and heavier on the game and body. Sutter team didnt give much chances at all to the rangers. Not even shots on goal. They deserve to win much More than any other team last night. They outshot the rangers badly

Islanders are 0-3 this year against Boston, but they also did not have Horvat in the first two and lost Barzal right away yesterday (while also missing 3 other top 9 forwards in Wahlstrom, Bailey, and Pageau + Clutterbuck as it was).

The thing about the Islanders is they play the next 5 games against playoff teams and then have 3 days off before the TDL. If they suck in those 5 games, especially with another big game against PIT coming up, they may be selling off Mayfield (and Varlamov). Mayfield isn't a huge loss for them, depending on who is taking his spot, and their defense has been bottom-tier this year even with him in the lineup. Varlamov is their backup. So they may still be good enough to get into the playoffs... But their defense is playing like absolute trash despite looking formidable on paper and their offense is average at best (both in reality and on paper).

I dug into it and saw some interesting numbers:

24th in GF/G
26th ranked PP
Their PDO is 101.1
They're 4th in xGF, 3rd in scoring chances for and high danger chances
22nd in league shooting percentage

So they're getting chances to score .. but they're just not converting, but their goaltending has been outweighs that bad conversation rate to give them a positive PDO. But another factor could be an aging core/team in how their finishing their chances

I’ve been watching the Oilers vs Avalanche game. Neither team looks very good defensively or in net.
