Bruins have won 13 of last 15. They're smoking hot. Wouldn't want any part of them right now but we're getting them soon. If we get them in Round 1, I hope they've cooled by then.
Yep. I think Tampa is a better matchup for Toronto than Boston.

TB has deteriorated at 5-on-5 and Toronto's bottom-six is significantly better. Tampa's main strength is on special teams, which Toronto has been very good at. Contrary to popular belief, TB is not really a very active rush offense team (they get more cycle and forecheck chances), with rush defense really being Toronto's only significant 5-on-5 weakness.

The Leafs' failings in the playoffs have really come down to goal scoring. I would not want that to be the team history and then have to face off against the best defensive team in the NHL, by a significant margin.

I still think I'd avoid the bolts more than the bruins but maybe that's just me. The bolts I think are uninterested in the regular season and are just hungry for the playoffs. At this point its just about turning on the extra gear when the post season comes.

I've seen it mentioned that Tampa is deteriorating, Florida hasn't won a series in forever and Boston is too old.
Looks like another year with an easy path to the final 4.

Every year it's the same story but the playoffs are legit a new season and people tend to forget that. Especially when there is a bit of a downturn from the expected team. Skill and obviously history and experience matter but I think hunger will definitely be a big proponent on who advances, it is nuts the eastern conference has an insane amount of powerhouse teams, and only one will advance to the finals. The west this season is such a crapshoot.

I don’t care who we play.

We have to beat them.

Period.

I didn't make those comments about Boston and Florida.

And no doubt, Tampa is a good team. But they are deteriorating. They are not as good as they were during the past 2 seasons.

Tampa's PP was 17th ranked going into the Bruins game. I recall the struggles they had with it last season, or was it the season before? One of them, but they wound up winning the Cup anyway. As bad as Tampa may be playing, they are the defending back-to-back champs. Perhaps, they're out of steam? Hard to get up to keep winning championships. Or, perhaps, they're laying in wait ready to strike once May rolls around?

I still want Carolina. FredEx is a playoff failure. We have seen we can beat them. We've also beaten Boston and Tampa. Curious what we feel about a potential Florida matchup once we play them on Sunday night.

Really looking forward to Sunday. Not to look past the Habs. Leafs need all the points they can get.

But... I'm interested to see how we match up against them. I know they have a good mix of skill and toughness but I don't think many people picked them to be doing this well. I still find it hard to believe.

The other thing with the Bolts is if facing the Leafs, each team will play a speed and skill centric game (each team's strength) relying on their highly skilled cores to win. Which helps the Leafs get around the playing style that have hampered them in the past

I thought it was all finally unraveling when they lost 3 in a row at home to NSH, CBJ, and OTT in late Feb. That team goes on little losing streaks from time to time. Lost another 3 in a row just last week to LA, SJ and VGK. Half of their season losses have been since Feb. 1.

Don't like them adding Giroux. They already had six 20 goal guys on their team and have added him to the mix.

You bring up what is my concern. That Habs game is a trap game. Leafs are going to be looking ahead to Florida, Boston and rematch with Peg. I guess same goes for Florida playing Ottawa on Saturday. Both teams have to be looking ahead. Don't think Leafs care they got drilled in MTL and are likely to bring B game to that one.

Like you, can't wait for Sunday night. I hear the NBC Sunday night football theme....Been waitin' all day for Sunday night...

Precisely the biggest concern I have too. They let Chara run around punching our players in the back of the head and did nothing about it. Leafs try push back and we have Jake Gardiner getting a "3rd man in" penalty.

I thought the league had been trying to take headshots out of the game for a long while now, but apparently it's okay if it's against a Leaf player. Why was this not a penalty? Okay, maybe refs missed it, but this should have been reviewed by Parros, if the league was actually objective and had any integrity, and Chara at least fined for that. There was no justification to blindside another player with a direct punch to the head in that situation. You bet if a Leaf player did that, the headline during the game would have been "Leaf player to have a hearing with league over direct punch to the head of...".
