It's crazy how packed the standings are. TB is tied with CAL for 4-5th overall and we're tied with BOS for 8-9th with just one point less. Or to put it another way, had we won against MTL, we'd be in clear 4th ourselves.

Parity!

I wonder how come there's no parity between the top teams in terms of officiating...corrupt refs have consistently put the Leafs around the bottom of the league in drawing penalties that you would think they are a non-playoff team and puck chasing most of the time. The most dominant line in Bunting-Matthews-Marner has seen Matthews drawing far fewer penalties than McDavid and MacKinnon...and MacKinnon has played fewer games than Matthews while drawing 4 times as many penalties!

He did the Leafs no favours with his take on officiating...so, it's status quo with Leafs being around the bottom of the league 5 years straight for drawing penalties despite being one of the better teams, and Matthews the outlier amongst his superstar piers for drawing the fewest penalties.

I highly doubt this tbh...if anything it might have helped a bit because he answered it pretty smart.

His follow-up answer to the question about Matthews drawing so few penalties was meh also...so now, Matthews has to go down (ie. dive) to draw penalties? Obstruction, hooking, holding, interference aren't penalties? Well, Matthews did go down when Byron clipped him purposely on the skates last game against the Habs, which lead to the 3-on-1 game winning goal. Dubas should have brought up some highlights like he doesn't understand why the Leafs are around the bottom of the league 5 years straight despite being such a high-possession team, like some of the top teams...maybe the refs don't know that their biases are so evident and have accumulated to such a degree...he let them off the hook by saying officiating is a tough job - yeah, it is so tough that teams like Florida, Tampa Bay, Colorado, Boston, etc. get so many more powerplays than Toronto.

It feels like Washington is a big step below everyone else in the East. FLA/CAR should be fighting hard to matchup against the Caps instead of one of TB/BOS/TOR

5 powerplays for Boston, must be nice...when did the Leafs last got 5 powerplays? Not over 3 games, but in a game?
Could it be the leaf top players don't take any penalties, don't stir the pot, don't play a very physical game and don't go to alot of the dirty areas..... I very well could be wrong though l, maybe the leafs are just disliked by the refs. Honest question.

Wilson can be quite the dirty player but does have some great hits also.
