1 point in 10 playoff games is terrible but I'd like to see what he does this year if he is healthy and they do not meet the Lightning in round #1. Winning the Atlantic is the key for Panthers and Leafs.

Its the key for all four of the big dogs really, at least grabbing the top two spots to get home ice is. Even though Boston looks like they are slipping, they are losing a lot of games they should be winning right now (outplaying the other team handily most nights) and we could end up with a scenario where Toronto/Boston/Tampa/Florida all face each other in a first round bloodbath and every little advantage will help. Life in the Atlantic continues.....

So did others and never became anything. Durzi likely tops out as a bottom pairing PP guy. Decent player but for Muzzin, you do that deal every time.
I think he can be a Stralman. But still a good deal for us.

Yes his defense is that bad. He was a train wreck in his own end in the AHL. He is so far from Stralman it isn't even funny. Just not even the same style of player at all. Durzi is all offense.
Stralman was the same way when he broke in (not good defensively), which is why he was traded so much. It takes time.

So because Stralman figured it out after years of development it means Durzi will as well? Sorry I just flat out don't see it and it is the kind of thing you could say about every defensively inept prospect that comes along. Reality is that most of them flame out rather then turn into a steady defensive rock for years on winning teams.

Well that's you, I've seen the kid flat out fly and create offence in his short NHL career. I've also seen him willing to block shots and make hits.

Blocking shots and making hits is not defence though. Durzi is not lasting in the league long by being offense with 0 defence. He was awful in the game against us even with 2 points.

Blocking shots and hitting does not make someone a good player defensively. He is a mess in his own zone. He isn't a bad depth piece and might carve out a career for himself but he isn't what you think he is.

Except he doesn't standout and none of his offensive or physical tools make up enough of a difference to cover up his deficiencies on defense. He isn't as gifted as say Kessel or JVR that you can almost forgive that he is a liability on D.

I'm going to be surprised if manages to stick in the NHL given most teams don't usually run their 5/6 D as an offensive minded one. If he does, I'll be happy to see it.

Wasn't that his first ever NHL game?

He looked like a tip pair last night against Anaheim.
