My biggest issue with the Chicago thing was that they gave him an ultimatum of a full investigation or resignation.
Following his resignation, he went on to assault teenagers.
Why they didn’t fire him, and cite the reason why, is beyond me.
This was 11 years ago. The way we deal with sexual assault is not the same. There is a heightened understanding now of sexual assault and it’s taken way more seriously now. That being said it’s sad they didn’t handle it properly it could have prevent others from assault.
This was 2010, not 1980…. Theo Fleury’s book was published in 2009 and sexual assault was literally at the forefront of the hockey world at that time.
I think it is without a doubt the Hawks should had handle it better, that also applies to NHL and NHLPA. The fact that Hawks dismissed it just a few months ago showed how f**k up is the system.
To me, I don’t know why Chevy and Q are still employ at this point bc Bowman and others resigned. Put it this way if Chevy and Q are still working for the Hawks, would they still be working? I don’t see how working in other organizations means they don’t need to take accountabilities.
They knew what happened and chose Winning over all else.
That doesn’t make it okay for the MGT to say, let’s talk about this after the playoffs.Exactly, even at that time in 2010 sexual assault cases weren’t as prevalent as they are now. The Metoo movement basically took off in 2017. That’s when these types of cases began getting more notoriety and press. Sexual assault against men was even more taboo and organizational (not only in sports but across all aspects of life) responses to sexual assault was no where near as reactive and responsive as they are now. It’s quite shameful

Saw what Torts said in an interview today and he was right on, not one person step up and said, this is wrong.
The question is, did Chevy knew.chevy isn’t getting fired, he was the Capologist. I’m not trying to be that guy that defends everyone, but this is the problem with cancel culture. Context matters. There are very specific people who could have done something according to organizational position and their given roles. Chevy may have been a voice in the room but he’s dealing with the Cap, there is no evidence that says he was against dealing with the issue immediately. Numerous insiders have come on radio today and substantiated this. Coach Q, Bowman and McDonough deliberately (evidence based) chose not to do anything, all 3 should have nothing to do with the NHL for life.
Maybe I didn’t make it clear.i never said it was okay! I said right at the end it’s shameful
Sopel and Boynton did said they spoke with Vincent-skills coach about it back then.I keep reading they now have 4 players from those teams come out and say that the entire team knew. Did these players saying this speak up for Beach at all back then? Doesn't really seem fair that they want to put all this blame on Toews, Kane, Seabrook and the other leaders on that team and they get ignored just because they came out and said that everyone on the team knew. Again though, I don't really know the full story here so I'm just curious why everybody is ignoring these guys saying that everyone knew about it when I haven't heard anything about these players saying this do anything to help Beach back then.
Coach Q may be out of a job by end of the week, and the Jets searching for a new GM too
Torts?!?
Torts?!?
